Job description

Simplify Alpha operates a services/staffing (IDC-type) business model, and this Finance Controller role should be built around the financial mechanics of a people-based, billable-hours business: deal/contract profitability, bench cost management, utilization tracking, and client invoicing tied to time and material or fixed-fee arrangements. The Controller owns close, controls, and compliance for the entity, and partners closely with delivery and account leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements in line with group reporting formats
  • Manage revenue recognition for T&M, fixed-price, and staff augmentation contracts
  • Ensure the entity's numbers roll up cleanly into group consolidation
  • Track billable utilization, bench cost, and realization rates across resources and accounts
  • Build and maintain deal/contract-level profitability views (rate card vs. actual cost, including onshore/offshore cost differentials)
  • Monitor bench aging and flag underutilized resources to leadership
  • Support pricing decisions on new SOWs and rate card negotiations
Controls & Compliance
  • Design and enforce internal controls, including approval matrices, reconciliations, and segregation of duties
  • Ensure statutory compliance (tax filings, regulatory returns, and jurisdiction-specific requirements)
  • Manage the statutory and internal audit process end to end
  • Maintain compliance with Ind AS and US GAAP as applicable, given cross-border staffing arrangements
Intercompany & Transfer Pricing
  • Manage intercompany invoicing, particularly around cross-border resource deployment and IC service agreements
  • Support transfer pricing documentation and safe harbour positioning for the staffing/services model
  • Track cash movement tied to client invoicing cycles and payroll-heavy cost base
Business Partnering
  • Act as the finance point of contact for Simplify Alpha's delivery and account leadership
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting, with particular attention to headcount-driven cost planning
  • Provide visibility on client-wise and SOW-wise margins to support account management decisions
Qualifications
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent (CPA, ACCA), 10-15 years post-qualification experience
  • Experience in a staffing, IT services, or IDC (captive/BOT) business is important, specifically comfort with utilization-based profitability models and bench cost management
  • Working knowledge of Ind AS and US GAAP
  • Experience with ERP and time-tracking/billing systems suited to services businesses (NetSuite, SAP, or similar, plus timesheet tools)
