Position: Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) Engineer
Work Experience: 3 to 6 Years
Required Software Experience: DVA software such as 3DCS, VSA (Variation Simulation Analysis) and SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, or AutoCAD
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field
Work Location: Chennai
- Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and statistical tolerancing methods
- Hands-on experience with DVA software such as 3DCS, VSA (Variation Simulation Analysis),
- Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA, NX, Creo) for datum and tolerance review
- Hands-on experience in VisMockup / Teamcenter Visualization for CAD review, sectioning, measurement, clearance, interference and virtual assembly checks.
- Collect and review required input data such as CAD assemblies, product structure, installation sequence, process assumptions, tooling concepts, fastener details and packaging constraints.
- Collect necessary input data such as CAD (part & assembly), datum schemes, drawings, BOP/BOD, process flow and program assumptions from the design/VOME team.
- Interpret and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 to component drawings and datum schemes as inputs to the variation model.
- Identify Critical-to-Function (CTF) and Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) characteristics and flag high-risk dimensional stack-up conditions early in the design phase.
- Support Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) by quantifying dimensional risk contributions.
- Document DVA reports, datum strategies and simulation outcomes for design reviews, DVP&R and PPAP support. Support cross-functional teams during prototype builds, launch and production ramp-up to troubleshoot dimensional non conformances.
- Create engineering issue presentations (PPT/Camtasia) with proposed engineering solutions for clients
- Good understanding of automotive product structure, assembly process, manufacturing feasibility and serviceability requirements.
