Job summary

RGBSI is seeking a Principle Accountability professional for automotive dimensional engineering in Mumbai. The role focuses on coordinating datum schemes, GD&T, and assembly processes for 2D/3D modeling, with cross-functional collaboration across design, tooling, CAE, quality, and manufacturing.

Strong problem-solving and English communication are essential. The candidate will drive quality goals, participate in dimensional reviews, and lead studies to reduce variation while ensuring design

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any specialization.
• 6–12 years of experience in automotive dimensional engineering.
• Expert working knowledge of GD&T (ASME/ANSI/ISO).
• Proficient at CATIA and/or NX: 2D and 3D modeling.
• Creative problem-solving skills; able to work with others.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate datum schemes and assembly sequences for 2D/3D modeling.
• Participate in PDTs/Dimensional Review meetings.
• Perform variation reduction and dimensional sensitivity studies and document results.
• Develop locator strategy documents.
• Monitor and control dimensional objective documents.
• Identify Critical Characteristics and document drawings based on analyses.
• Compare measured data with objectives and GD&T specifications.
• Research data (RSS specs, tolerances) to determine design feasibility.
• Define and document quality goals (dimensional/functional).
• Approve final released GD&T components and assembly drawings.
• Generate measurement points and fixture certification data.
• Obtain dimensional requirements for interfacing parts for system-level analyses.
• Work with fixture suppliers to develop concepts and certify fixtures.
• Participate in fit validation, root-cause analysis, solutions.
• Collaborate with design, tooling, CAE, quality, manufacturing teams.
• Develop and maintain timing plans for dimensional engineering.
• Communicate with customers, internal teams, and suppliers.
• Generate and implement cost-saving ideas.

Principle Accountability

• Coordinate all datum schemes (locator logic) and assembly sequences required for 2D or 3D modeling.
• Active participation in OEM/internal PDTs/Dimensional Review meetings.
• Perform variation reduction and dimensional sensitivity studies and document.
• Develops locator strategy documents.
• Monitor and control the dimensional objective documents.
• Identify Critical Characteristics and document drawings, based on analytical results.
• Perform comparison studies of measured data versus objectives and GD&T specification MCRs/Nom Shift/Tol Relief.
• Research and analyze data such as RSS, specifications, component tooling tolerances to determine design feasibility.
• Define and document quality goals (dimensional and functional) by developing quality objective targets on key product criteria.
• Check and approve final released GD&T components and assembly drawings
• Measurement point and fixture certification data generation.
• Responsible for obtaining dimensional requirements for interfacing parts to develop system level analyses.
• Work with inspection fixture suppliers to develop concepts, ensure fabrication of fixtures meet specifications and certify fixtures.
• Purchased parts responsible to provide dimensional approval for tool texturing authorization.
• Participate in fit validation activities, root cause and define solutions.
• Work effectively in a team environment with a cross-functional team: design, tooling, CAE, quality, manufacturing.
• Develop and maintain timing plans as it pertains to dimensional engineering.
• Establish effective communications (written and verbal) between customer, internal groups and suppliers.
• Generate and implement cost savings ideas.

Education / Experience

• Bachelors degree in any specialization
• 6 to 12 years of experience
• Vehicle Dimensional Product Engineering experience: Minimum of 6 years experience. (ex: Instrument panels, door trim, floor consoles, garnish, etc).
• Expert working knowledge of GD&T (ASME/ANSI/ISO).
• Proficient at RSS stacks: roll up and roll down.
• Energetic personality: Self-starter with a high passion for success.
• Proficient in using Catia and/or NX: 2D and 3D.
• Creative problem-solving skills: Work effectively with others.
• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
• Microsoft Office proficiency: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project.
• Excellent communication skills in English
