Job summary

Nokia in Bengaluru, India is seeking a hardware design engineer to translate product and system requirements into robust hardware designs, through detailed design, implementation, validation and debugging. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and high reliability.

The role includes supporting qualification, production ramp-up and deployment, ultimately releasing the product for field performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience designing systems with microprocessors, microcontrollers, FPGAs and CPLDs.
• Experience with high-speed interfaces such as PAM4, PCIe, DDR4, SATA, USB, SGMII.
• Experience with memory technologies (DDR, NAND, NOR).
• Experience designing boards with optical modules (SFP, QSFP, QSFP28, QSFP-DD).
• Hands-on with SI/PI concepts and tools.

Responsibilities

• Translate product and system requirements into robust hardware designs across the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with system, firmware, software, manufacturing and quality teams for seamless integration.
• Support qualification, production ramp-up and deployment to ensure reliable field performance.
• Board bring-up, debugging and cross-functional testing during system validation.
• Debug field issues of released products and guide the team technically.
• Work with lab equipment to verify designs and troubleshoot root causes in lab, assembly, and field.
• Stay abreast of latest trends in hardware design.

Job description

Your responsibilities will span the complete product lifecycle-from understanding and translating product and system requirements into robust hardware designs, through detailed design, implementation, validation, and debugging. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including system, firmware, software, manufacturing, and quality to ensure seamless integration and high reliability. The role also involves supporting qualification, production ramp-up, and deployment, ultimately seeing the product successfully released and performing in the field.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

• Feasibility analysis during architecture phase
• Design hardware that meets requirements
• Schematic entry, BoM release, support layout engineer and support MFG team during prototyping
• Board bring-up, functional testing, support cross functional teams during system testing and debugging issues
• Debug field issues of released products
• Technically guide the team
• Work on latest trends

Qualifications

• Experience in designing systems with Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, FPGAs and CPLDs
• Experience with OTN processors/framers is a bonus
• Excellent knowledge of high speed interfaces like PAM4, PCIe, DRR4, SATA, USB, SGMII etc.
• Excellent knowledge of various memories (DDR, NAND, NOR etc)
• Experience in designing boards with optical modules (SFP, QSFP, QSFP28, QSFP-DD etc.)
• Excellent knowledge of SI and PI concepts, hands-on with SI / PI tools is a bonus
• Experience in designing on-board power supplies
• A minimum of 2 years of experience with Concept HDL schematic entry
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment like high speed oscilloscope, signal source analyzer, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, bode analyzer etc.
• Experience in EMI / EMC tests
• Experience with troubleshooting/root cause techniques in lab, assembly house and field issues
• Very good communication and documentation skills
