The Dietitian will be responsible for assessing patient nutritional needs, planning therapeutic diets, and educating patients on healthy eating habits. This requires strong clinical knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to customize diet plans based on medical conditions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assess patients’ nutritional status through medical history, lab reports, and dietary evaluation.
- Develop personalized diet plans for patients based on medical conditions such as diabetes, cardiac issues, renal disorders, and obesity.
- Provide therapeutic diets for inpatients and dietary counseling for outpatients.
- Monitor patient progress and modify diet plans as required.
- Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for integrated patient care.
- Educate patients and families on nutrition, lifestyle changes, and healthy eating habits.
- Plan and supervise meal services to ensure quality, hygiene, and nutritional adequacy.
- Ensure compliance with hospital dietary standards and food safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of patient diet plans, progress notes, and counseling sessions.
- Conduct nutritional screening and risk assessments for admitted patients.
- Participate in ward rounds and provide dietary inputs for patient management.
- Develop diet charts for special conditions including ICU, post-operative, and chronic illness cases.
- Monitor food preparation and service processes in coordination with kitchen staff.
- Ensure proper portion control and calorie count as per patient requirements.
- Conduct awareness programs and health talks on nutrition and wellness.
- Participate in quality audits and ensure adherence to dietary protocols.
- Stay updated with advancements in clinical nutrition and dietetics.
- Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards in food handling areas.
- Support infection control practices related to food safety.
- Collaborate with management for menu planning and dietary improvements.
- Provide guidance on enteral and parenteral nutrition where required.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics in patient care.
- Work in shifts as required and be available for emergency consultations.
