Job summary

Asian Heart Institute seeks a dedicated Dietician to lead the Dietetics & Clinical Nutrition Department, ensuring the smooth running of services and high-quality nutrition care for patients. The role involves collaboration with the F&B Manager and Chef to develop nutritionally balanced patient menus and regular reporting on quality indicators.

The ideal candidate holds a Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Dietetics/Clinical Nutrition, with a Registered Dietician qualification in consideration.

Qualifications

• Graduate /Postgraduate degree or Diploma in Dietetics and/or Clinical Nutrition from a reputed university.
• Qualification in Registered Dietician Examination and/or hospital administration is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead Nutrition Care services and ensure smooth department operation.
• Collaborate with F&B Manager and Chef to plan nutritionally balanced menus for patients.
• Provide written MIS reports and quality indicators data regularly.
• Train dietetics interns and update department policies.
• Plan and monitor department budget and staffing needs.

Job description

We seek a dedicated and experienced Dietician to join our Dietetics & Clinical Nutrition Department. You will be responsible for the smooth running of the department, working closely with the F&B Manager and Chef to plan nutritionally balanced menus for patients, and ensuring a high standard of patient-centered, outcome-oriented Nutrition Care plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership
  • Accept accountability for services provided through direct Nutrition Care.
  • Collaborate with the team to render professional Nutrition services.
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships among hospital personnel, medical staff, patients, and the public.
  • Maintain effective and open communication.
  • Participate in Nutrition Care policy formulation and decision-making.
• Administrative
  • Evaluate the nutritional adequacy and appropriateness of therapeutic diets, making necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and resolve service/quality issues with follow-through.
  • Provide written MIS reports & Quality Indicators data at routine intervals.
  • Establish inventory standards for stationary items & patient education material.
  • Project staffing needs and participate in staff selection.
  • Train Dietetics Interns and introduce new or revised departmental policies for improved functioning.
  • Ensure compliance with department and hospital policies and procedures.
• Food Service Management
  • Plan, standardize, and implement menus for in-patients.
  • Conduct training sessions for all involved in patient meal preparation and service.
  • Facilitate continuous quality improvement in patient meal services.
  • Perform organoleptic evaluation of patient meals in conjunction with the F&B Manager.
  • Review hospital occurrence reports with staff and implement action plans to prevent future occurrences.
• Nutrition Care Management
  • Provide nutrition care by considering medical, social, cultural, and religious needs and preferences.
  • Integrate evidence-based practices with clinical expertise and patient values.
  • Formulate Food Exchange Lists for practical purposes of Menu planning & calculation of Nutritive Value of Therapeutic diets.
  • Conduct daily ward rounds, inform patients of their progress, provide bedside counseling, and offer follow-up consultations in OPD.
• Human Resource Management & Staff Development
  • Ensure appropriate orientation, training, and continuing education for staff.
  • Provide an educational experience for trainee dieticians.
  • Organize and involve staff in innovative departmental activities.
  • Act as a resource person to the HOD on departmental matters.
  • Maintain personal professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
  • Schedule staff to maintain adequate coverage.
• Fiscal Management
  • Plan and monitor the departmental budget.

Qualifications
