Job summary

Thermax Limited in Pune district is seeking a Detail Engineer – Balance of Plant (BOP) with 3–10 years of experience for permanent employment. The role covers thermodynamics, layouts, drawings, and technical coordination within the Industrial Products – Heating division.

The successful candidate will develop BOQ/MTO, review P&IDs, GA drawings, and ensure designs meet installation and maintenance needs across solid fuel-fired boilers, WHRB and APH systems. Knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–10 years in BOP engineering or boiler projects.
• Experience with boiler auxiliaries, piping, ducting, layouts.
• Exposure to WHRB, economisers, APH preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply thermal engineering for solid-fuel boilers, WHRB, ECO, and APH.
• Prepare and review plant layouts, GA, piping, ducting, and chimney positioning.
• Prepare equipment specs, material requirements, BOQ, and MTO.
• Review customer specs and coordinate with sales, process, and design teams.
• Identify risks and suggest cost-effective engineering solutions.

Job Description – Detail Engineering (BOP)

Position: Detail Engineer – Balance of Plant (BOP)
Division: Industrial Products – Heating
Experience: 3–10 Years
Employment Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

1. Thermal & System Engineering

• Apply thermal engineering fundamentals for solidfuel-fired boilers, Waste Heat Recovery Boilers (WHRB), economisers (ECO),and Air Preheaters (APH).
• Support system engineering and equipment integrationactivities.

2. Engineering Layouts & Drawings

• Prepare and review equipment layouts, boiler houselayouts, piping and ducting arrangements, structural interfaces, andchimney positioning.
• Review P&IDs, General Arrangement (GA), GATPdrawings, piping/ducting layouts, and support drawings.
• Ensure designs meet accessibility, maintainability, andinstallation requirements.

3. Technical Specifications & BOQ

• Prepare equipment specifications, materialrequirements, and engineering design parameters.
• Develop and validate Bill of Quantities (BOQ), MaterialTake-Off (MTO), equipment lists, and weight estimates.

4. Technical Evaluation & Coordination

• Review customer specifications, technical requirements,and scope of supply.
• Coordinate with Sales, Process, Boiler Design,Projects, Procurement, and other engineering teams.
• Participate in customer discussions and site visits asrequired.

5. Engineering Optimization & Risk Assessment

• Identify technical challenges related to piping,ducting, layouts, structural interfaces, and equipment integration.
• Recommend practical, cost-effective engineeringsolutions.
• Support value engineering, material optimization, anddesign standardization.
• Identify engineering and execution risks and recommendmitigation measures.

Qualification& Experience

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineeringdiscipline.
• Experience: 3–10 years in BOP engineering, boiler engineering, thermal power plants,or related industrial engineering projects.
• Experience in boiler auxiliaries, piping, ducting,equipment layouts, and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of BOQ/MTO preparation, technicalspecifications, and engineering coordination.
• Exposure to solid fuel-fired boilers, WHRB,economisers, and APH systems will be preferred.
