Responsibilities

• Execute boiler performance activities from project kickoff to final documentation.
• Support proposal development with thermal design, performance evaluations, and man-hour estimates.
• Prepare and review thermal calculations, performance studies and operating predictions.
• Maintain project documentation per procedures and ISO work instructions.
• Coordinate with engineers and design teams to ensure timely execution.
• Monitor hours and communicate scope changes affecting man-hours.
• Support schedule adherence and milestone delivery.
• Participate in reviews and prepare technical reports and presentations.

Description
The Boiler Performance Engineer is responsible for executing boiler performance engineering activities associated with BPS projects, including performance analysis, thermal calculations, proposal support, contract execution, technical documentation, and engineering deliverables. The role supports project teams in achieving technical, quality, and schedule objectives while ensuring compliance with company standards and customer requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform boiler performance engineering activities for contracts from project kick-off through completion of performance testing and final technical documentation.
• Support proposal development activities, including preliminary thermal design, performance evaluations, technical clarifications, schedule inputs, and man-hour estimates.
• Prepare and review thermal calculations, performance studies, operating predictions, and guarantee evaluations.
• Develop and maintain project engineering documentation in accordance with established procedures and ISO work instructions.
• Coordinate with Project Engineers, thermal design teams, schedulers, and other functional disciplines to ensure timely project execution.
• Track project engineering hours against budgeted estimates and communicate any scope changes that may impact man-hours.
• Support project schedule adherence by meeting assigned milestones and proactively identifying potential delays.
• Participate in engineering, proposal, and project review meetings as required.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, customer presentations, and engineering recommendations.
• Review operating data and test results to evaluate equipment performance and recommend corrective actions or design improvements.
• Ensure technical deliverables meet company quality standards and customer specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
• Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in boiler performance, thermal engineering, heat transfer, combustion, product design, or a related engineering field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex technical data.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize workload, and meet project deadlines.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in boiler performance engineering involving coal-fired, natural gas-fired, oil-fired, or biomass-fired applications.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid flow, and combustion principles.
• Experience with boiler performance testing, thermal modeling, and performance guarantee evaluations.
• Field commissioning, startup, or plant operating experience.
• Familiarity with ASME Section I requirements and boiler-related industry standards.
• Experience working with utility, industrial, or power generation equipment and systems.
