Job summary

JSW Energy is seeking a Desk Engineer Operations at Vijayanagar to administer, operate and control power generation equipment through DCS in accordance with SOPs, ensuring reliability and safety for personnel and equipment.

Reports to the Shift-in-charge; requires BE/BTech with NPTI and 3–5 years of experience in a 100 MW thermal power plant, with strong communication and teamwork skills for on-site operations and ERP/LDC coordination.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in a relevant discipline with NPTI preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in a 100 MW thermal power plant or larger.
• Experience operating DCS and coordinating with maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate the unit from DCS to maintain plant parameters and unit load.
• Coordinate with operation support group for performance improvements.
• Maintain generation as per export schedule.
• Raise ERP notifications for equipment abnormalities.
• Prepare monthly reports for Shift-in-charge and CREs.
• Note and analyze shift activities in the logbook.
• Coordinate with maintenance for safety of personnel and equipment.
• Guide field engineers during normal operations, isolations and emergencies.
• Coordinate with other departments during isolations, emergencies, drills and testing.
• Guide ESP and CHP operation for safe system operation and bunker levels.

Purpose - Why does this role exist?

This role exists to administer, Operate and control the power generating equipment through D.C.S (Distributed Control System) as per the SOP in a systematic manner and maintaining performance reliability and safety of all the personnel and equipment

Jobs assigned / Key Result Areas (Key Performance Indicators)

• 1) Operating the Unit from DCS to maintain plant parameters and Unit Load.


• 2) Coordinating / assisting operation support group in conducting performance / efficiency.


• 3) To maintain units generation so as to export power as per the schedule.


• 4) Raising notification in ERP regarding abnormalities of equipment / system.


• 5) Preparing monthly report on areas assigned by Shift-in-charge / HOD-Operations to each Control Room Engineer (CRE).


• 6) Noting down and analyzing the various activities in logbook preformed during the shift.


• 7) Coordinating and ensuring with maintenance personnel while they are in job to ensure safety of men & machines.


• 8) Guiding the Field Engineers during normal activities, isolations and emergency operations.


• 9) Coordinating with other departments during isolations / emergencies / mock drills / testing.


• 10) Guiding ESP (Electrostatic Precipitator) control room operator for safe operation of the fly ash system.


• 11) Guiding CHP (Coal handling Plant) Operating Engineer for safe operation of coal handling system and to maintain adequate bunker levels.


• 12) Engage and co-ordinate with Engineers of contractor to ensure output and results as per Service Level Agreement.

Educational Background and Work Experience

Educational Background: B.E/B.Tech N.P.T.I

Work Experience: 3-5 years in at least 100 MW Thermal Power Plant
