Job summary

Adani Group seeks an experienced Control Room/Lead Desk Engineer to monitor and operate boiler, turbine, generator, BOP, switchyard, and transformer systems, ensuring optimal performance and safe start-up/shut-down procedures.

The role also oversees Flue Gas Desulfurization operations, monitors key plant parameters, drives energy conservation, and ensures environmental compliance while following safety and PTW protocols.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in power plant operations, preferably in thermal power plants.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP, switchyard and electrical systems for optimal performance.
• Execute start-up and shut-down operations of plant systems.
• Observe plant parameters and respond to deviations.
• Perform routine equipment changeovers and emergency drive tests.
• Handle emergencies related to BTG and coordinate responses.
• Manage switchyard and grid-related emergencies to minimize impact.
• Ensure safe isolation and normalization of equipment as needed.
• Oversee FGD operations and monitor related parameters.
• Maintain accurate logbooks of plant parameters.
• Promote energy conservation focusing on SOC, APC, DM water, and heat rate.
• Monitor critical chemistry parameters for environmental compliance.
• Implement and oversee FGD operations to reduce emissions.
• Adhere to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA guidelines.
• Maintain personnel and equipment safety via training and SOPs.
• Comply with Permit to Work (PTW) systems.

Job description

Purpose/Objective

• This role is responsible to monitor and operate plant systems, including Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP, switchyard and transformer area ensuring their optimal performance and executing necessary start-up and shut-down procedures.
• This role also performs and monitors Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations, maintaining equipment, promoting energy conservation, and ensuring environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities of Role

• Control Room Engineer/Lead Desk Engineer /Lead FGD/ Switchyard Engineer System Monitoring and Operations: Monitor Boiler, Turbine, Generator, BOP, and Electrical Systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Execute start-up and shut-down operations of the plant systems, as required.
• Maintain close observation of plant parameters and respond promptly to any deviations.
• Perform routine changeover of equipment and trial of emergency drives.
• Emergency Response and Equipment Handling: Handle plant emergencies related to Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) and coordinate responses.
• Manage emergencies related to switchyards and grid problems to minimize impact on operations.
• Ensure safe isolation and normalization of equipment in response to operational needs or emergencies.
• Perform Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) operations and monitor FGD system parameters.
• Maintain all plant parameter logbooks accurately and up-to-date.
• Energy Conservation and Environmental Compliance: Promote energy conservation in all activities, focusing on Specific Oil Consumption (SOC), Auxiliary Power Consumption (APC), Demineralized (DM) Water usage, and Heat Rate.
• Monitor critical chemistry parameters to ensure environmental compliance and operational efficiency.
• Implement and oversee FGD operations to reduce emissions and comply with environmental regulations.
• Business Sustainability: Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA, CHETNA guidelines within the department.
• Maintain safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
• Adhere to Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Notify and report defects, problems in the plant to the shift in charge in a timely manner.
• Digitization and Automation: Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.
• Implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.
• Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Qualifications and Experience

• Educational Qualification: BE/B.
• tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Work Experience (Range of years): Minimum of 3+ years of experience in power plant operations with a focus on thermal power plants Preferred Industry: Experience in the power generation industry, specifically with thermal power plants, is highly preferred.
