Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a design professional with 2 to 16 years of experience in AIS/GIS substation design and BIM modelling up to 400kV. The role involves primary design, drafting, and layout development for outdoor and indoor substations, with international project exposure across regions.

Candidate should have proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit/Inventor, NavisWorks, and related tools, and be able to coordinate with leads and clients.

Qualifications

• Diploma is preferable.
• 2 to 16 years of experience in designing & BIM modelling of AIS/GIS Substation projects; knowledge of primary design up to 400kV is desirable.
• Design & modelling of (Concept, FEED, and detail design) of T & D systems up to 400kV for utility companies based on international standards – for Middle East, UK, Australia & US regions.
• Performs primary design/modelling/drafting activities such as key SLDs, AC/DC SLDs, cable schedules, interconnection schedules, specifications, bulk MTO, etc.
• Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD and excellent working knowledge of Revit/Inventor substation modelling software, clash detection, NavisWorks, Revizto, etc.
• Automation tools such as Dynamo, RF tools, Ideate, Cobie knowledge is preferable.
• Experienced in developing, implementing, and designing automation project execution plans.
• Able to prepare a PowerPoint presentation or author technical memorandums and other documents.
• Experience with Bentley ProjectWise, BIM360 desirable.

• Applies broad practical knowledge to design/modelling layouts and produces equipment layouts for outdoor switchyard, indoor substation, trench/tray layouts, lighting, earthing & lightning protection layouts; able to give technicians guidance and review from a technical/quality perspective.
• Resolve any design/drafting issues and coordinate effectively with leads.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and communicate work with team members on all design aspects of the project.
• Attend client meetings for technical clarifications.
• Capable of working under challenging workload subject to change at short notice.
• Good communication & IT skills.
