Job summary

SSAB in Mumbai is seeking a Designer cum Nesting Programmer for sheet metal fabrication. You will design 2D/3D parts, optimize nesting with SigmaNEST, and set laser cutting parameters to maximize material utilization.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3–5 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. SAP exposure is a plus; teamwork and adaptability are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, SolidWorks and SigmaNEST.
• Hands-on experience with optical fibre (laser) cutting and parameter setting.
• Basic MS Office knowledge and ability to read engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 2D and 3D designs using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Develop and optimize nesting programs using SigmaNEST.
• Maximize material utilization and minimize scrap through nesting.
• Interpret drawings and convert to production-ready programs.
• Set and optimize machine parameters for cutting operations.
• Support laser cutting processes and prefeed setup knowledge.
• Coordinate with production and maintenance for workflow.
• Maintain documentation using MS Office.
• Contribute to productivity and quality improvements.
• Follow safety guidelines and company policies.

Job Summary

We are seeking a competent Designer cum Nesting Programmer with 3–5 years of experience in the sheet metal industry. The candidate will be responsible for design development, nesting optimization, and supporting production operations. The role requires a strong technical background along with alignment to SSAB’s global values, teamwork, and adaptability.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare 2D and 3D designs using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Develop and optimize nesting programs using Sigma NEST.
• Ensure maximum material utilization and minimize scrap through efficient nesting.
• Interpret technical drawings and convert them into production-ready programs.
• Set and optimize machine parameters for cutting operations.
• Operate and support optical fibre (fiber laser) cutting processes, including prefeed setup knowledge.
• Coordinate with production and maintenance teams for smooth workflow.
• Maintain accurate documentation using MS Office tools.
• Support continuous improvement in productivity and quality.
• Follow safety guidelines and company policies at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication.
• Proficiency in:
