Job summary

CIRCOR International, Inc. in Coimbatore invites an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Industrial Valves Engineering team.

The role focuses on creating 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs for valve projects and ensuring designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. You'll work with cross-functional teams including production, supply chain, quality, and project management in a concurrent engineering environment, using SolidWorks and ERP-based BOM processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
• 5 years of experience in engineering; at least 2 years in control valves.

Responsibilities

• Prepares design 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and all design related documentation or reports.
• Create BOMs in ERP based on engineering guidelines.
• Support engineered to order (ETO) activities for control valves.
• Update and standardize drawings to meet latest standards and Engineering guidelines.
• Active involvement in continuous improvement activities to reduce lead time of BOM, model and drawing creation.
• Contribute to Kaizen events and problem-solving activities.
• Perform tolerance stack-ups, fits and clearances, and basic stress/flow calculations.
• Work with manufacturing, quality, procurement, operations and project management to ensure designs are manufacturable and within cost targets.
• Generate test and assembly procedures and reports for design verification.

POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The candidate will be part of the Industrial Valves Engineering team, supporting creation of Bills of materials, 3D CAD models and Engineering drawings for various valves projects and will be based in Coimbatore, India and reports to the Head - Engineering (Industrial valves).

This position requires interactions with other engineering associates, suppliers, and functional department personnel (production, supply chain, quality, project management, application engineering, etc.) in a concurrent Engineering environment to develop economical design solutions.

Proficiency in 3D modeling, assembly & 2D drafting using Solid works is preferred.

• Prepares Design 3D models, 2D drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and all design related documentation or reports.
• Follow standard practices in creation of BOM in ERP based on engineering guidelines
• Support engineered to order (ETO) activities for control valves
• Update and standardize drawings to meet latest standards and Engineering guidelines.
• Actively contribute and support Continuous improvement activities to reduce lead time of BOM, model and drawing creation and increase productivity
• Contribute to business improvement activities, specifically Kaizen events and problem-solving activities.
• Performs tolerance stack-ups, fits and clearances, and stress, strain and flow calculations as required.
• Works with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Procurement, Operations and Project Management to ensure designs are manufacturable, inspect able, and within cost targets.
• Supports investigations into production problems when called upon and searches for solutions; advises and assists other department members on design issues.
• Generates applicable test and assembly procedures and reports for design verification and manufacturing.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Good knowledge on codes and standards pertaining to valves / control valves.
• Strong knowledge of component design and analysis techniques and utilization of best Engineering practices. Must understand the principal of cost and process effective design
• Excellent 3D modeling and associative 2D, 3D drafting skills using one or more CAD tools such as Solid works or equivalent Engineering software tool.
• Familiar with standard Engineering drafting practices
• Hands-on knowledge in GD&T, following ASME Y14.5 standard is desirable
• Exposure to design calculations to find the flow analysis & structural integrity of components.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience to manage and document drawing changes / updates

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering.
• Overall, 5 years of experience with at least 2 years of experience in control valves is mandatory. Hands on experience in modelling & drafting of valve components is mandatory.
