Job summary

Technosft Engineering India Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a Design Engineer for New Product Development to drive concept generation, CAD modeling, and prototyping for plastic products and mould design. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, cost, and performance targets are met.

The role requires strong skills in SolidWorks, Creo, UG NX and Catia, familiarity with GD&T and DFMEA, and willingness to travel overseas for short and long assignments.

Qualifications

• Must have strong understanding of design principles and GD&T.
• Experience in plastic or sheet metal product design and DFx considerations.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo and Catia.

Responsibilities

• Create design concepts and drawings to determine the best product and maintain technical compatibility to develop concepts into real products.
• Understand the requirements and work with different teams to implement new ideas.
• Present product ideas to relevant team members for brainstorming
• Perform market research to understand market requirements and initiate innovative product development.
• Analyze new components, materials, and technologies to evaluate functionality for all new product development.
• The design considers manufacturability, cost, performance, and durability.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary product launch teams to facilitate product launch as per research findings and in the appropriate market.
• Develop and review design prototypes, perform the test and finalize product design to facilitate mass production.
• Knowledge in GD&T, stack-up analysis, different industrial standards like ANSI, JIS, DIN, etc.
• Design product considering DFM, DFMA & DFMEA as well cost, performance and durability.
• Close coordination with customers.
• Manage the design, prototyping, and testing of products to ensure they meet the guidelines for standards and functionality.
• Involve in sampling materials for the final product, utilizing CAD software to create designs, and determining the process guidelines for optimum functionality.
• Should be highly experienced in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Creo, UG, Catia, etc.
• Should conceptualize ideas and create designs based around them.
• Should have excellent communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
• Comply with Design control and Stage gate processes while designing prototypes and products.

Preferred candidate profile

• A good grasp of engineering and design principles.
• Core experience in Product design (Plastic, sheet metal design, material handling equipment design, etc.)
• Knowledge in GD&T, Stack-up analysis.
• Good knowledge of any of the 3D modeling software (SolidWorks / Pro-E etc.).
• Excellent eye for aesthetic design and customer appeal.
• Excellent communication skills and good team working skills.
• Good understanding of color science and combinations.
• Artistic and innovative flair.
• Strong knowledge of the industry and market trends.
• Able to sit in front of a computer for long hours at a time.
• Willing to travel overseas for short and long assignments.
