Job summary

CT AUTOMOTIVE INDIA is seeking a Product Design Engineer in Pune to generate design concepts, produce conforming designs, and perform required calculations per project requirements.

The role requires 6–15 years of experience in mechanical design, working with mechanisms, CAD, GD&T, and DFMEA, collaborating with cross-functional teams for automotive design delivery.

Qualifications

• Mechanical degree or relevant experience with diploma.
• 6 to 15 years of experience in product design engineering.
• Experience with mechanism products and automotive components is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generate design concepts and produce conforming designs, parameters and calculations.
• Develop feasible designs considering manufacturing processes and mass/strength criteria.
• Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documents.

Skills: Master Sections, working on Mechanisms, Concept Design , RPS, Tolerance Stack , DFMEAOthers Regulations, GD&T , Prior experience of working on mechanism products like Airvents, Cupholder ,Armrest , Glove box is added advantage .

Job Overview:

The Product Design Engineer is responsible for generating design concepts, producing conforming designs, and conducting necessary calculations based on project requirements. This role involves developing feasible designs by considering manufacturing processes and ensuring compliance with mass, strength, and mechanical performance criteria.

This role combines technical expertise in design, compliance, and cross-functional teamwork, making it a key contributor to the successful delivery of engineering projects.

Job Roles & Responsibilities:

• Generate design concepts and produce conforming designs, parameters, and calculations (provided by a project engineer or lead engineer).


• Develop feasible designs, considering available manufacturing processes. Perform engineering calculations for mass, strength, and mechanical performance.


• Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documents.


• For each assigned project, provide alternative design solutions accompanied by analysis, supporting information and recommendations.


• Insurance the accuracy of Designers' and Detailers' work by giving them clear, complete technical direction and by verifying the output.


• Lead all design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies.


• Maintain strong familiarity with specific customer CAD data integrity requirements and apply as required.


• Ensure that designs comply with government and customer specifications and regulations.


• Actively participate in product design reviews when required.


• Responsible for detail product design according to standards and guidelines.


• Translate defined product design performance criteria in CAD data & specifications.


• In depth knowledge in areas of Mechanism parts like Air vents, cupholders, armrest etc.


• For his perimeter, define technical solutions and CAD data (2D & 3D) using standard CADmethodology.


• RPS, Concept design, Master sections


• Tolerance stack, GD&T (including KC for internal and customer needs)


• To be able to manage the internal team along with Cross functional communication.


• Conduct weekly design reviews with team and management.


• Maintain team level Open Issue List and discuss with PM & customer for open points.


• Customer constraints and specifications, CAE implementations.


• Applicable regulations and legislation.


• Ensure process feasibility of the product design and A-Surfaces


• Ensure overall Product Design Performance considering Customer specifications, regulations, and legislations.


• At the end of a program, make Lessons learned applicable to improve Design & support the programme post TKO till SOP+3months.
