Job summary

SCHUCO Bengaluru seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to provide 2D/3D design and drawing support for new product development. You will generate models and CAD proposals, prepare master catalogs, and coordinate with PD, technical, and service teams to ensure smooth product introduction.

Responsibilities include creating Inventor/AutoCAD drawings, fabricating and testing components, maintaining BOMs, and supporting post-launch service activities. Relevant degree and CAD proficiency required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or diploma in engineering considered for experienced candidates.
• Knowledge of Inventor and AutoCAD with ability to create 2D drawings and 3D models.

Responsibilities

• Generate 2D/3D models and drawings from concepts and specs provided by the Product Manager.
• Prepare CAD proposals for new products and obtain stakeholder feedback.
• Fabricate and trial new products/components; provide fabrication and assembly drawings in standard catalog formats.
• Create master models of components in Inventor and prepare orders and fabrication catalogs.
• Coordinate with PD, technical, and service teams; assist in catalog prep and updates.
• Assist 3D printing of samples and prepare product development fitment checks.
• Maintain master BOM database and track procurements and deliverables.
• Support service team post-launch for testing and site/PMU installations.
• Witness fabrication, installation and testing at in-house and third-party labs; record results.
• Help PMU with corrections in documentation and reports.
• Review product performance at site/factory to update documentation.
• Prepare test, expo, and industry visit reports for NPD.
• Assist in developing the NPD team from recruitment to training.

Job Purpose: Responsible for providing 2D/3D design/drawing support for new product development Catalogue and documentation and involved in practical trails and testing of all new systems to learn and contribute to better presentation. More advantage for Candidates having knowledge to use AI tools to automate dwgs and documentations for repetitive works and well versed in Inventor/Rivet CAD tools.

Job Description:

• Generating Models/Dwgs of Product design developments from concepts and specs provided by Product Manager.
• Preparing CAD proposal dwgs of new products and obtain feedback from stakeholders.
• Fabricating and trail check of new products/fittings and accessories. Supporting PMU and VMU activities of all products by providing all necessary fabrication and assembly dwgs in standard Catalogue formats.
• Preparing Master models of all components and types in Inventor and preparing order and fabrication catalogues.
• Coordination for PD, technical and service:

1. Catalogues preparations and receive feedback and update
2. Assisting in the 3D Printing of samples of new components
3. Preparing master database of all product BOM and tracking procurements and deliverables.
4. Support service team post product launch for testing and site/PMU installations in few months of launch.

• Coordination with testing and site: Witnessing actual fabrication, installation and testing (IH) In-house & Third-party lab
• PMU supports and do necessary corrections documentations.
• Reviewing product performance at site and factory to obtain feedback and recording to improve/update system documentations launched
• Prototype, Samples: Preparing product development fitment check sample fabrication drawings. NPD product sample fabrication drawings.
• Reports: Test visit reports , Expo visit reports, Industry visit reports
• People & organizational development: Assist in developing the NPD team to identify, recruit and train candidates who will become an integral part of the NPD

Qualifications and Skills:

• Young and dynamic person with interest to learn (Preferably within the industry).
• Create the best 2D proposals and 3D product drawings in Auto CAD and Autodesk Inventor.
• 5years+ of prior experience will be an advantage. Minimum qualification of bachelor's in mechanical for experienced candidates, Diploma in Engineering qualification will also be considered.
