Job summary

Designtech Systems in Pune is seeking a Sheet Metal Design Engineer to design and develop sheet-metal components using UG NX. You will create 3D models, 2D drawings, and fabricate-ready assemblies, coordinating with production and vendors to resolve issues.

The role requires experience with GD&T, bend processes, and BOMs, ensuring designs are suitable for laser cutting, CNC bending, punching, and welding. You will support prototype development and maintain design documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience designing sheet-metal components and assemblies for fabrication.
• Proficiency with UG NX and other CAD tools for 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, weld symbols and BOM preparation.

Responsibilities

Role & responsibilities

• Design and develop sheet-metal components and assemblies using UG NX.
• Create and modify 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and assemblies.
• Develop designs for panels, brackets, enclosures, covers, frames, doors, and other fabricated components.
• Apply knowledge of sheet-metal bending, bend allowance, bend radius, K-factor, unfolding/flat patterns, and material thickness.
• Prepare manufacturing drawings with GD&T, tolerances, weld symbols, and BOMs.
• Ensure designs are suitable for laser cutting, CNC bending, punching, welding, and fabrication.
• Perform Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Coordinate with production and vendors to resolve manufacturing/design issues.
• Incorporate engineering changes and customer requirements into existing designs.
• Support prototype development, testing, and design validation.
• Maintain design documentation, drawing revisions, and engineering records.
