Job summary

Durus Consulting in Pune is seeking a Sunroof System Engineer to lead design, development, integration and validation of automotive sunroof systems, including panoramic and related mechatronics. You will work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to meet functional, quality, cost, and regulatory targets.

The role requires 6–10 years of experience in mechanical or production engineering and a B.E. in relevant field.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of relevant mechanical or automotive design experience.
• Bachelor-level engineering degree required.
• Experience with sunroof or mechatronic systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage sunroof system requirements from concept to production.
• Lead design and integration for sunroof modules and drive mechanisms.
• Coordinate with suppliers for reviews and issue resolution.
• Perform DFMEA, DVP&R, and risk assessments.

Job description

Key Performance Indicators

The Sunroof System Engineer is responsible for the design, development, integration, validation, and release of automotive sunroof systems, including panoramic roofs, spoiler roofs, and related mechatronic components. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and OEM stakeholders to ensure the sunroof system meets functional, quality, cost, timing, and regulatory requirements.

Develop and manage sunroof system requirements from concept to production.

Lead design and integration activities for:

1. Sunroof module
2. Glass panels
3. Frame assemblies
4. Drive mechanisms
5. Wind deflectors
6. Motors and controllers
7. Water management systems

Coordinate with suppliers for component development, design reviews, and issue resolution.

Perform DFMEA, DVP&R, and risk assessments.

Analyze and resolve design, manufacturing, and field quality issues.

Support CAD package reviews and packaging studies.

Ensure compliance with OEM specifications, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.

Participate in prototype builds, testing, and validation activities.

Track engineering changes and release documentation through PLM systems. Support vehicle integration and launch activities.

Single Point contact as part owner for suppliers & other departments. Coordination with departments like QA, pilot hall, Purchasing & Development for product optimization and issue resolution.

Responsible to provide technical input to suppliers and plant colleagues to meet product requirement ensuring right material, process and functionality of the product.

Create 3D data, 2D drawings, PDM, TLD, DFMEA, DFM, DFA, DFS and other documentation. Upload the documentation in IT systems, for releasing.

Evolve, in pre-development to the hand over phase of components/systems for what concern technical solutions and corresponding performance, timing and cost targets.

Candidate should have executed at least couple of related engineering projects throughout the product lifecycle.
