Job summary

Omni Recruit Private Limited is seeking an Application Engineer in Bengaluru to support design, development, and validation activities. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure robust product performance and manufacturability.

The role requires CAD/CATIA-V5 proficiency, DFMEA, GD&T, and strong analytical skills. Education should be a Mechanical/Automotive/Industrial Engineering degree or diploma with experience in automotive design/applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Diploma in Mechanical, Automotive, or Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Experience in a Design and Application engineering role in automotive domain is expected.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements into robust engineering solutions with design and development teams.
• Perform DFMEA to identify risks and define corrective actions.
• Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure design feasibility.
• Apply GD&T for precise drawings and dimensional control.
• Support prototype builds, design reviews, and validation testing.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to resolve design and process issues.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, and reports.
• Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.

Job description

The Application Engineer will be responsible for supporting product design, development, and validation activities by applying strong engineering fundamentals, analytical skills, and technical expertise. The role involves close collaboration with design, manufacturing, and customer teams to ensure robust product performance and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with design and development teams to translate customer requirements into robust engineering solutions.
• Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to identify potential risks and define corrective actions.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure design feasibility and product fit/function.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles for precise engineering drawings and dimensional control.
• Support prototype build, design reviews, and validation testing activities.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to address design and process issues.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, and reports.
• Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.

Education and Experience

• Bachelors/Diploma degree in Mechanical / Automotive / Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 58 years of experience in a Design and Application engineering role within the automotive domain.

Required Skills

• Good manufacturing knowledge in Plastics and Sheetmetal parts.
• Proficiency in CAD tool CATIA-V5 is must. (Part Modelling, GSD, Drafting,
• Strong knowledge of DFMEA, tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, and general mechanical design principles. Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles and design
• Good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and product validation methods.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• - Experience in design & development of Safety critical parts incl. Steering wheels, Airbags, etc., (added advantage)
• - Basic understanding of simulation or CAE tools (added advantage).
