Sandeep Metalcraft (SMPL) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead end-to-end design, prototyping, and process development for innovative mechanical products and assemblies.
You will bridge conceptual design and manufacturing, ensure quality, cost efficiency, and implement DFM/DFA and GD&T across projects, collaborating with production, quality, and supply chain teams to scale prototypes into volume production.
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to lead the end-to-end design, prototyping, and process development of innovative mechanical products and assemblies. You will bridge the gap between conceptual design and full-scale manufacturing, ensuring high quality, cost efficiency, and design-for-manufacturing (DFM/DFA) compliance.
Product Design & Engineering: Design and develop mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and complex electro-mechanical/industrial products using 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, etc).
Prototyping & Testing: Build and evaluate proof-of-concept models, run design verification plans (DVP), and conduct physical testing.
Manufacturing & Process Development: Select optimal materials, collaborate with tool rooms, and define manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, molding, castings, etc).
Design for Excellence (DFM/DFA): Perform tolerance analysis and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T per ASME Y14.5) to streamline production and assembly lines.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams to transition prototypes into volume manufacturing, manage vendor/supplier interactions, and resolve shop-floor issues.
Documentation: Create complete 2D production drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), ECRs/ECNs, and assembly instructions.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech or M.E. / M.Tech).
Experience: [5 to 10 years or more] of proven experience in mechanical product design, R&D, and manufacturing/assembly environments.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or CATIA) and managing large assemblies
Strong command of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and DFM/DFA principles
Familiarity with shop-floor manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal fabrication, plastics/injection molding, or casting)
Soft Skills: Problem-solving mindset, project management capabilities, and effective communication to coordinate with cross-functional teams
