Job summary

SRM Technologies in Chennai is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to develop components and assemblies using CATIA, Creo and SolidWorks. You will apply GD&T, perform tolerance analyses, and drive manufacturability improvements through DFM/DFA principles.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, quality and sourcing teams, manage PLM/PDM data, and contribute to NPI/NPD projects while ensuring compliance and thorough documentation across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of mechanical design and product development experience.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Experience with NPI/NPD processes and product compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools.
• Create 3D models, sheet metal designs, assemblies and 2D drawings.
• Apply GD&T and perform tolerance analysis to ensure robustness.
• Drive DFM and DFA initiatives for producibility.
• Conduct DFMEA and identify risks with mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, sourcing and PM teams.
• Manage engineering data and product releases in PLM/PDM systems.

Job description

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using industry-standard CAD tools.
  
• Create and maintain 3D models, sheet metal designs, assemblies, and detailed 2D engineering drawings.
  
• Apply GD&T standards and perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure design robustness.
  
• Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives.
  
• Conduct DFMEA activities and identify potential product risks and mitigation plans.
  
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on product requirements.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and project management.
  
• Manage engineering data, revisions, and product releases using PDM/PLM systems.
  
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Product Development (NPD) activities.
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
