Job summary

Bajaj Auto Limited in India seeks an Engine Design Engineer to support end-to-end design, detailing and validation of IC engines. You will ensure interface clearance, prepare engine layout and BOM, and release EC with accurate interfaces for sub-systems.

The role requires 5–10 years of experience in automotive engine design, a Diploma in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, and hands-on CAD proficiency (Creo/Pro/E/UG/NX) with ACAD.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering from a reputed institute.
• Consistent high percentage across SSC/HSC (if appeared) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end design, detailing, and validation of IC Engine.
• Responsible for layout, packaging & interface checks in 3D, with surrounding parts and highlighting clearance / interference issues.
• Working out design proposal in CAD of engine parts as input to Hz team.
• To prepare Engine layout, BOM & release EC ensuring correctness of interface points of different sub system.
• Perform calculations related to shaft and bearing sizing.
• Stacks analysis of all engine axis and parts.
• Ensuring that the part design respects all the DFM principles for respective part categories.
• Review the part design & prepare DFM check sheets before release.
• Benchmarking and generation of ideas for better performance, quality improvement, cost reduction, weight reduction of different system.
• Communicating interface issues with horizontals / styling.
• Coordination with engine and vehicle T&V team & PM for Engine/vehicle level test.
• Support Engine components and system-level testing.

• Strong understanding of automotive IC engine components and system, function of parts and basic design requirement like:-
• Air intake system
• Crankshaft, Piston and Cylinder block
• Transmission System
• Cylinder head and Valve train
• Cooling system
• Hands-on experience in Engine lay-outing
• Understanding of manufacturing processes: Casting, forging, machining,

• Expertise in preparing 2D drawings & Knowledge of GD&T
• Good knowledge of and exposure to relevant manufacturing processes in-house as well as at vendors
