Job Description
The Design Coordinator will lead the engineering review and technical quality assurance process for a massive GW solar PV and integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. This role bridges the gap between the PMC’s global engineering specialists, the EPC contractor’s design teams, and on‑site construction managers to ensure error‑free, timely design approvals that prevent field modifications.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 7‑10 years of progressive engineering and design coordination experience within the utility‑scale solar or power infrastructure sector. Minimum 4+ years of direct design review experience working for a PMC or Owner’s Engineer, handling large‑scale solar fields (250MW+ blocks). Direct experience with mega‑scale solar park designs in India is highly advantageous.
- Control design interface coordination and IFC readiness required for orderly Solar construction and testing.
- Coordinates engineering workflow and interfaces; discipline designers/EPC prepare calculations and drawings, and field engineers inspect installed work.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain status of layouts, SLDs, MMS/tracker drawings, string plans, cable schedules, earthing/lightning, roads/drainage, SCADA/control and MV interface deliverables for review by the Solar Electrical Engineer and commissioning team.
- Coordinate consolidated review comments, RFIs/TQs, technical clarifications and design‑interface actions.
- Check IFC availability and approved revision use before construction release of work fronts.
- Track design changes, site modifications and associated as‑built requirements under change‑control procedures.
- Coordinate design inputs required for commissioning dossiers, punch resolution and HOTO documentation.
- Deep understanding of Indian Standards (IS), IEC standards for solar components, CEA regulations, and local state grid codes.
- Escalate design constraints affecting construction sequencing or safety/compliance.
Principal Client‑Facing Outputs
- Solar engineering deliverable register and IFC status.
- RFI/TQ/design‑interface tracker.
- Change/as‑built coordination status report.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil/ Structural Engineering, or Renewable Energy Technology.
- Strong familiarity with structural design analysis software (e.g., STAAD. Pro) and electrical simulation tools (e.g., ETAP) is highly preferred.
Key Competencies
- Strong site leadership and team coordination
- Problem‑solving and decision‑making under site constraints
- Effective communication with multi‑stakeholders
- High commitment to safety and quality
- Result‑oriented execution mindset
Key Focus Areas (Site‑Level Execution)
- Safe and timely construction of substations and transmission systems
- Quality assurance and compliance with specifications
- Effective contractor and interface management
- Smooth commissioning and grid integration
- Real‑time progress monitoring and reporting
Alignment with Discipline Leads (Site Level)
- Electrical Lead: Execution of HV/EHV systems, testing & commissionings
- Civil Lead: Foundations, structures, GIS buildings, and site development
- I&C Lead: SCADA, SAS, and communication systems
- QA/QC Lead: Inspection, testing, and quality compliance
- HSE Lead: Safety implementation and monitoring
Other Requirements
- Willingness to work at remote project sites
- Experience in large‑scale, multi‑location infrastructure projects preferred
