The role requires a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of experience in purchase, preferably in manufacturing or project-based settings. Mumbai-based with hands-on ERP, Tally, and Excel skills. On-site position with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 10+ years of relevant purchase/procurement experience in manufacturing, steel fabrication, or project-based industries.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, mechanical components, electrical items, consumables, and subcontracted services per project schedules and budgets.
• Identify, evaluate, approve, and develop reliable suppliers; establish alternate sources to minimize risks.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions to optimize procurement costs and savings.
• Maintain procurement documentation per company policies including requisitions, quotations, POs, and supplier records.
• Prepare and review monthly procurement reports covering value, savings, POs, supplier performance, and material availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, bought-out items, mechanical components, electrical items, consumables, and subcontracted services in line with project schedules, approved budgets, and quality requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, approve, and develop reliable suppliers. Establish alternate sources for critical materials to minimize supply risks and dependence on single vendors.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, credit periods, delivery schedules, freight, and other commercial conditions to optimize procurement costs and achieve cost savings.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation, including purchase requisitions, vendor quotations, comparative statements, approval records, purchase orders, and supplier-related documents, in accordance with company policies.
• Prepare and review monthly procurement reports covering purchase value, cost savings, pending purchase orders, supplier performance, delivery status, and material availability.

Required Skills and Experience

• Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in purchase and procurement, preferably in manufacturing, steel fabrication, engineering, or project-based industries.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation, and vendor development.
• Ability to understand engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), material specifications, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in ERP systems, Tally, and MS Excel.
• Strong commercial acumen, including cost analysis, price comparison, and payment-term evaluation.
• Excellent negotiation skills and knowledge of procurement cost optimization.
• Effective planning, prioritization, and time management.
• High integrity, accountability, and adherence to processes.
• Strong cross-functional coordination with engineering, production, project, quality, and finance teams.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
