Job summary

Adani Group in India seeks a senior Boiler Operations lead to manage high‑pressure steam systems, ensure uninterrupted steam supply for multiple process units and drive safety, energy efficiency and reliability across utilities.

The role requires 10+ years in thermal utilities with BOE certification and experience in large process industries. You will guide cross‑functional teams, implement SOPs, and contribute to decarbonization and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in thermal utilities, boiler operations or power generation.
• Exposure to high‑pressure boilers, steam systems and energy management.
• Experience in large continuous-process industries such as copper, steel, petrochemicals or fertilizers.

Responsibilities

• Lead operation of high‑pressure steam generation systems and auxiliaries.
• Ensure uninterrupted steam availability to process units per production requirements.
• Drive compliance with Boiler Act, IBR and safety audits; promote PTW and safe operating practices.
• Coordinate with maintenance for preventive, predictive and shutdown activities; drive root cause investigations.
• Drive energy efficiency, fuel optimization and cost reduction in utilities.
• Lead and develop utility operations teams and drive continuous improvement projects.

Job description

Purpose/Objective

• Lead safe, reliable and efficient Boiler Operations to ensure uninterrupted generation and supply of steam for Smelter, Sulphuric Acid Plant, Refinery, CCR and auxiliary facilities.
• Drive operational excellence, energy efficiency, equipment reliability, statutory compliance and continuous improvement while ensuring adherence to process safety, environmental and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities of Role

• A.
  Boiler Operations & Performance Management - Lead operation of high-pressure steam generation systems and associated auxiliaries.
  - Ensure uninterrupted steam availability to all process units as per production requirements.
  - Monitor critical operating parameters and optimize boiler performance.
  - Achieve targets related to steam generation, fuel efficiency and plant availability.
  - Drive operational discipline through SOP adherence and control room governance.
• B.
  Safety, Process Safety & Compliance - Ensure strict compliance with Boiler Act, IBR requirements and statutory regulations.
  - Drive implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) practices.
  - Lead HAZOP, risk assessments and safety audits for utility operations.
  - Maintain zero-harm culture through PTW compliance and safe operating practices.
  - Support emergency response and business continuity planning.

  Reliability & Asset Management - Coordinate with Maintenance teams for preventive, predictive and shutdown activities.
  - Improve equipment reliability through data-driven analysis and root cause investigations.
  - Monitor performance of boilers, deaerators, pumps, compressors and steam distribution systems.
  - Ensure optimum spare management and shutdown readiness.

  Energy Optimization & Cost Management - Drive fuel efficiency improvement initiatives.
  - Optimize steam generation cost and auxiliary power consumption.
  - Monitor boiler efficiency, heat rate and energy performance indicators.
  - Identify opportunities for waste heat recovery and utility cost reduction.
  - Support sustainability and decarbonization initiatives.

  Team Leadership & Capability Development - Lead and develop utility operations teams across shifts.
  - Build technical capability in boiler operation, safety and troubleshooting.
  - Establish performance culture through coaching and operational reviews.
  - Ensure manpower productivity and competency compliance.

  Continuous Improvement & Digitalization - Drive operational excellence projects and process optimization initiatives.
  - Utilize digital dashboards, SAP and utility monitoring systems.
  - Implement best practices in utility management and benchmarking.
