Job summary

Operational Energy Group (OEG) is seeking a senior mechanical maintenance lead to oversee BTG, turbine and BOP systems at a power facility in India. You will drive preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance while ensuring high plant availability and safety compliance.

The role requires hands-on experience with rotating equipment, strong leadership, and proficiency in condition monitoring techniques, SAP, and CMMS.

Qualifications

  • Experience in thermal power plant systems, especially BTG and auxiliary equipment.
  • Hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis).
  • Familiarity with SAP and CMMS for maintenance planning and reporting.
  • Strong leadership to manage engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with decision-making under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical operations and maintenance of BTG, turbines, generators and BOP systems.
  • Ensure high plant availability through preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance strategies.
  • Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot pumps, compressors, fans and piping systems.
  • Plan and execute shutdowns, overhauls and major maintenance with cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct RCA and implement corrective/preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations and environmental norms.
  • Mentor and manage a team of engineers, supervisors and technicians.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors and OEMs for maintenance and projects.
  • Maintain documentation, reports and MIS for operations and audits.

Job description

Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical operations and maintenance of Boiler, Turbine, Generator (BTG) and Balance of Plant (BOP) systems.
  • Ensure high plant availability by implementing effective preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance strategies.
  • Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot issues related to pumps, compressors, fans, conveyors, valves, and piping systems.
  • Plan and execute shutdowns, overhauls, and major maintenance activities with cross-functional coordination.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, statutory regulations, and environmental norms.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
  • Optimize plant performance parameters such as heat rate, auxiliary consumption, and fuel efficiency.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and OEMs for maintenance and project activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and MIS for operational and audit purposes.

Preferred Candidate Profile
  • Strong technical expertise in thermal power plant systems, especially BTG and auxiliary equipment.
  • Hands-on experience in rotating equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Good knowledge of condition monitoring techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, etc.).
  • Familiarity with SAP / CMMS systems for maintenance planning and reporting.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and handle plant operations independently.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively during plant emergencies.
  • Experience in Coal-based / CFBC / WHRB plants is preferred.

Additional Requirements
  • Immediate joiners or candidates with short notice periods will be given preference.
  • BOE certification is an added advantage.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills are essential.
