Job summary

Runwal Realty is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Design Engineer to lead the design, review, and implementation of MEP systems for real estate projects, focusing on HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.

You will coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors, produce detailed AutoCAD drawings, perform load calculations, ensure code compliance, and support site construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Approximately 8 years of design engineering experience preferred.
• Experience in real estate or construction projects is desirable.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and HVAC software; strong knowledge of building systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, review and validate MEP systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) and create detailed 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers and consultants to ensure design integration and resolve on-site issues.
• Review load calculations, select equipment, and develop technical specifications and BOQs.
• Ensure designs comply with NBC, local codes and safety regulations.
• Perform site visits to monitor installation, testing, and verify conformance to design specs.
• Assist with cost estimations, procurement, and adherence to project timelines.
• Review consultant deliverables during design stage for MEP services in real estate projects.
• Develop and update MEP design documents following local standards.

A Mechanical Engineering Design Engineer in real estate develops, plans, and oversees the implementation of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) to meet technical and budgetary goals. They review CAD drawings, load calculations, ensure compliance with building codes, and coordinate with construction teams to ensure efficient, sustainable designs.

Job Responsibilities

• System Design & Documentation:Design, Review and Validate MEP (Mechanical and Plumbing) systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, STPs, Basement ventilation systems creating detailed 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD.
• Project Coordination:Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and consultants to ensure design integration and resolve design on-site technical issues.
• Calculations & Specs:Review and validate load calculations, equipment selection, and develop technical specifications and, or, material take-offs and BOQs, etc.
• Compliance & Safety:Ensure all designs comply with national, NBC, local, and safety regulations (e.g., building codes).
• Site Support:Perform site visits to monitor installation progress, conduct testing, and verify that construction aligns with design specifications.
• Budget & Scheduling:Assist with cost estimations, procurement of materials, and adhere to project timelines.

Key Requirements

• Education:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience:Previous experience of approximately 8 years in design engineering, preferably within real estate or construction projects.
• Software Proficiency:Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and/or HAP or pipenet, Mcquay, etc. as required.
• Technical Skills:Deep understanding of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and energy-efficient building systems as per codes and CFO regulations.
• Soft Skills:Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
