Job summary

Wikilabs India is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the Utility department in our plant. The candidate will ensure reliable operation of power, DG sets, HVAC, boilers and water systems, while guiding ETP/RO/ZLD operations and maintenance activities.

The role requires 4–8 years in utility operations, hands-on experience with water treatment plants, energy management, and strong leadership to drive safety and efficiency across multiple shifts.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall Utility department for plant operations.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot utility systems (power, DG sets, HVAC, chillers, water systems, boilers).
• Oversee ETP, RO, ZLD plant operations and compliance.
• Plan preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of utility equipment.
• Monitor energy consumption, downtime, and KPIs; drive efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, EHS, Projects and other departments.

Job description

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall Utility department, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted availability of utilities for plant operations.
• Handle operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of critical plant utility systems.
• Manage utilities including power, DG sets, HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, compressors, water systems, boilers/steam and other process utilities.
• Oversee ETP, RO and ZLD plant operations, ensuring efficient performance, water recovery, treatment quality and compliance.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of utility equipment.
• Monitor utility consumption, equipment performance, downtime, efficiency and operating parameters.
• Identify utility-related issues and ensure timely troubleshooting to minimize plant downtime.
• Drive energy conservation, water optimization, utility efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Support installation, commissioning and start-up of new utility, ETP, RO and ZLD systems.
• Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, EHS, Projects and other departments for smooth plant operations.
• Manage utility vendors, contractors, AMC activities and service providers.
• Ensure compliance with electrical, mechanical, environmental, statutory and plant safety requirements related to utility and water-treatment operations.
• Maintain utility and ETP/RO/ZLD records, checklists, consumption reports, KPIs and MIS.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring utility and water-treatment system breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
• Lead, guide and develop the utility team and ensure adherence to safe working practices.
• Ensure proper housekeeping and maintain a safe, clean and efficient utility area.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of industrial utility systems, operations and maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, compressors, DG sets, boilers, water treatment systems, ETP, RO and ZLD plants.
• Practical knowledge of ETP/RO/ZLD operation, troubleshooting, water recovery and process monitoring.
• Good understanding of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting and breakdown-management skills.
• Knowledge of energy management, water conservation and utility optimization.
• Experience in team handling, vendor management and maintenance planning.
• Good understanding of EHS, environmental and statutory compliance requirements.
• Strong coordination, problem-solving and leadership skills.
• Willingness to work in shifts, if required.

Eligibility

• relevant exp of 4years to 8 years of experience in utility operations and maintenance, preferably in chemical, battery materials, specialty chemicals, metals, process manufacturing or other industrial plant environments.
• Candidates should have hands-on experience in plant utility operations along with ETP, RO and ZLD plant operation and maintenance.
• Experience in managing a complete utility function/team in a manufacturing or process plant is preferred.
