Job summary

Bigbasket is seeking a Distribution Center (DC) manager to oversee the Ernakulam warehouse, guiding receiving, storing, and dispatching of orders to hubs and dark stores. You will supervise daily activities, plan operations within budget, and address issues with pragmatic solutions.

You will report to RBH and dotted to SCM-Head, ensuring safe working conditions and optimal layout. focus on timely deliveries and cross-functional coordination to resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in distribution/warehouse management.
• Experience in supervising DC operations and teams.
• Knowledge of end-to-end warehouse processes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Reviews incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Monitors warehouse workers and assists on the floor as needed.
• Ensures products are stored to preserve quality and accessibility.
• Creates a layout plan to streamline storage and retrieval.
• Implements worker safety and health regulations.
• Plans projects and sets objectives for employees.
• Ensures timely and accurate delivery of orders.
• Coordinates with hub managers on discrepancies in the supply chain.

Job Description:

Purpose:

DC manager supervises the all the employees in a warehouse. This is a key position, as the warehouse manager is responsible for all DC activities from receiving & storing to the Dispatching the orders to the HUBs & Dark stores. He Supervise the team on their day to day activities for smooth operations. He is also in charge of planning operations and activities, with the companys budget in mind. At the same time, he needs to address any issues within the organization, and promulgate solutions that can resolve such problems.

He will be reporting to RBH directly and dotted to SCM-Head. He should provide safe working environment to all the staffs and vendors and others available in his premises.

• Reviews incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Monitors warehouse workers and associated activities; offers assistance to those with concerns or problems on the work floor.
• Ensures that products delivered are stored in an organized manner, so that its quality is maintained and accessibility is achieved.
• Creates a layout plan that streamlines the storage and retrieval of goods.
• Implements worker safety and health regulations.
• Plans projects and sets objectives for the employees to meet.
• Responds to orders efficiently so that products are delivered in a timely and accurate manner.
• Coordinates with hub managers or internal customers regarding discrepancies and errors in the supply chain process.
• Addresses logistical problems and furnishes solutions to these issues.
• Meets with other managers to confer about products, shipping times, and distribution issues, among many other concerns.

• Waste management process as per the SOP released by SCM
• Controlling & regularizing Market Purchase in DC
• Monitoring the 2nd sale process as per SOP
• Ensure to follow the end to end Cold chain process
• Loss & Prevention of Damaged & lost assets
• Maintain open dialogue with other management to coordinate activities and improve performance and productivity
• Recording all the assets available and circulate assets audit report
• Daily briefing & arranging review meeting with all teams
• Identifying training requirements of the staffs and align with Regional Training Heads. Like Pickers Bottom 10% Performance

Background

An aspiring distribution center manager should have prior experience in the fields of business, supply chain management, and operations management.

Work Experience

As it has been established, one must know the ins and out's of the distribution center before he can effectively supervise it. On the average, employers require distribution center managers to have at least 8 years of experience in the floor before promoting them.
