Job overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SQL, database design, performance tuning, and ETL development. This role requires expertise in writing complex queries, optimizing database performance, and working with BI tools for data analysis. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, performance, and scalability of our databases, as well as managing data migrations, backups, and database administration tasks.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Design and implement relational database systems with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability. Develop normalized data models and build efficient database schemas.
• Write complex SQL queries, including joins, subqueries, and aggregate functions. Optimize queries to improve performance, minimize resource usage, and ensure fast execution times.
• Develop, test, and optimize stored procedures, functions, and triggers to handle complex business logic within the database.
• Implement indexing strategies to optimize query performance and data retrieval. Identify performance bottlenecks and apply optimization techniques for faster query execution.
• Develop and manage ETL processes using tools such as SSIS or Talend, ensuring the smooth extraction, transformation, and loading of data across systems.
• Manage database migration, replication, and integration tasks to ensure data is consistently transferred and maintained across multiple environments.
• Oversee database backup and recovery operations, implement clustering and replication strategies to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
• Ensure the integrity, consistency, and security of the data through regular checks, validation, and enforcement of best practices.
• Work closely with other developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver optimal database solutions that support business needs.
• Document database structures, processes, and procedures to ensure clarity and consistency. Provide reports on database performance, data integrity, and optimization improvements.
• Stay updated with the latest database technologies and best practices, recommending improvements and new technologies to enhance the database environment.

Required Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in database development, SQL, and database administration.

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in writing SQL queries (including joins, subqueries, and complex operations) and database design, including normalization and ER modeling.
• Strong experience in writing and optimizing stored procedures and functions for complex business logic. Solid understanding of indexing strategies and query optimization techniques.
• Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS or Talend for data migration and integration.
• Experience with database management, backup and recovery, replication, and clustering strategies to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
• Proficient in analyzing database performance and applying tuning strategies to enhance query execution times and system performance.
• Hands-on experience with at least one Business Intelligence (BI) tool, such as Power BI, c or similar, to assist with data analysis and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with cloud-based databases (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS) and cloud services related to data management.
• Knowledge of automation tools for database deployment and management.
• Experience in designing and maintaining data warehouses or large-scale data processing systems.
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
• Advanced experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for data visualization, reporting, and dashboard creation.
