Job summary

HCL Technologies Limited seeks a seasoned Customer Engagement Manager for AI Data Centers in Mumbai to bridge design, construction, and operations with hyperscale and enterprise AI clients.

You will lead the end-to-end customer journey—from technical deal structuring and site design customization to handover, ensuring 100 kW-150 kW+ per rack deployments with strong SLAs and PUE guarantees.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in technical customer account management, solutions engineering, or project delivery within hyperscale data centers or cloud infra.
• Solid understanding of data center design, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, power distribution, and high-density AI rack specs.
• Proven track record managing C-suite, engineering, and procurement execs at hyperscale providers or large AI enterprises.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Business/Construction Management.

Responsibilities

• Technical Client Onboarding & Design Alignment: translate customer requirements into facility design specs and lead SLAs, PUE and environmental parameters.
• Project Buildout & Delivery Governance: provide milestone updates, manage scope changes, and oversee FAT/IST validations.

Job Title: Customer Engagement Manager - AI Data Centers

Department: Commercial & Client Solutions / Enterprise Delivery

Reports To: AI Datacenter Head / SVP / Director of Customer Engagement & Commercial Delivery

Position Overview

We are seeking a technically adept, client-facing Customer Engagement Manager to serve as the primary strategic interface between our internal design, construction, and operations teams and our hyperscale / enterprise AI clients.

You will lead the end-to-end customer journey—from technical deal structuring and site design customization through core & shell build tracking, liquid cooling layout sign-offs, and final data hall handover. This role requires an individual who can bridge the gap between high-level commercial relationship management and deep technical requirements for 100 kW-150 kW+ per rack GPU deployments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Client Onboarding & Design Alignment
   • Requirement Translation: Act as the direct liaison between customer engineering teams and internal Design/MEP leads to translate high-density AI hardware roadmaps (NVIDIA H100/B200/GB200 clusters) into facility design specifications.
   • Liquid Cooling & Density Sign-Offs: Guide clients through core & shell layouts, secondary fluid loop handoffs, CDU placement preferences, and in-rack power/cooling boundaries (100 kW-150 kW+ per rack).
   • Service Level Agreements (SLAs): Co-author and refine technical SLAs, Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) guarantees, and environmental operating parameters within customer leases.
2. Project Buildout & Delivery Governance
   • Milestone Reporting: Provide enterprise clients with transparent progress updates across Civil/PEB milestones, MEP fit-out, long-lead equipment delivery, and Level 1-5 commissioning sequences.
   • Customer Change Management: Manage client-requested scope changes, evaluate cost and schedule impacts with the PMO team, and oversee execution of technical variation orders.
   • Audit & Inspection Facilitation: Organize and lead client technical teams through factory acceptance testing (FAT), field site walk-throughs, and Level 5 Integrated Systems Testing (IST) validations.
3. Relationship Management & Retention
   • Single Point of Contact (SPOC): Serve as the trusted single point of contact for customer escalations, schedule alignments, and operational readiness reviews.
   • Post-Handover Transition: Facilitate smooth transitions from construction/commissioning leads to live facility operations teams, ensuring client fit-out and server rack deployment start on time.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: 8–12+ years in technical customer account management, solutions engineering, or project delivery within hyperscale data centers or cloud infrastructure.

Technical Core: Solid understanding of data center design, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, power distribution (UPS/Busways), and high-density AI rack specifications.

Client Management: Proven track record managing C-suite, engineering, and procurement executives at major hyperscale (cloud) providers or large AI technology enterprises.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Business/Construction Management.
