VHAN Confiance (OPC) Private Limited in Chennai seeks an experienced Cost Accountant to manage product costing, inventory valuation, and cost analysis. You will work with Finance, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Operations to monitor costs and improve profitability.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing or industrial products, with strong skills in BOM costing, variance analysis, and ERP systems such as Tally, SAP, or Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain cost sheets and BOM costing.

• Monitor material, labor, and overhead variances.
• Perform inventory valuation and reconcile records.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close for cost accounting.
• Prepare cost reports and profitability analysis.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Operations on pricing and costs.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, and standard cost updates.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and controls.
• Assist audits with cost and inventory documentation.
• Recommend process improvements for cost control.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to manage product costing, inventory valuation, cost analysis, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will work closely with Finance, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to monitor costs, improve profitability, and ensure accurate accounting of inventory and production expenses.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate product cost sheets and Bills of Materials (BOM) costing.
• Analyze manufacturing, procurement, and operational costs to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Monitor material, labor, and overhead costs and investigate cost variances.
• Perform inventory valuation and reconciliation on a periodic basis.
• Ensure accurate accounting of inventory, WIP (Work‑in‑Progress), and finished goods.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities related to cost accounting.
• Prepare cost reports, profitability analysis, and management MIS reports.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Operations teams to validate material pricing and production costs.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and standard cost updates.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, and internal financial controls.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required cost and inventory documentation.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance cost control and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting.
• CMA (Cost & Management Accountant) qualification preferred. CA Inter or equivalent candidates with relevant experience may also be considered.
• 3–7 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing, trading, or industrial products environment.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, BOM costing, and variance analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (such as Tally, SAP, Oracle, or Zoho Books/Inventory).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
