Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an entry to early-career IT infrastructure steward to support VxRail environments and backup systems. The role emphasizes uptime, performance tuning, and reliable data protection using Avamar and Data Domain.

You will document procedures, perform health checks, handle health incidents, and coordinate with vendors. Candidates should be ready to work US hours and adapt to a global virtual team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or Info Systems is required.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience.
• Certification in VMware/Avamar/Data Domain is a plus.
• Familiarity with upgrades: patches, service packs, hot fixes, security configs.
• Ability to monitor performance and ensure system availability.
• Ability to work US business hours: 05:30 PM–2:30 AM IST.

Responsibilities

• Support and document processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Manage and tune VxRail infrastructure for performance and reliability.
• Execute emergency updates/patches to VxRail systems.
• Monitor Avamar and Data Domain backup jobs and storage usage.
• Diagnose, resolve high-severity VxRail incidents; coordinate with vendor support.
• Perform shift handovers and produce operational breach/reports.
• Coordinate disaster recovery tasks and data recovery with Avamar/Data Domain.

Job description

• Support, build proof of concepts, document processes, and enhance operational efficiency
• Manage hyper-converged infrastructure, preferably VxRail
• Conduct regular health checks and performance tuning on VxRail clusters
• Execute emergency updates and patches to VxRail systems
• Maintain VxRail systems for performance and reliability
• Configure and monitor Avamar and Data Domain backup jobs
• Verify data, troubleshoot backup errors, and manage backup storage allocation
• Diagnose and resolve high-severity VxRail infrastructure incidents
• Coordinate with vendor support when necessary
• Perform critical-system recovery using Avamar after data loss or corruption
• Monitor Avamar backup schedules and alerts
• Respond to P1 Data Domain disk failures or capacity issues
• Investigate and remediate high-priority Data Domain storage bottlenecks
• Manage urgent data replication tasks for disaster recovery and continuity
• Produce operational breach and other reports
• Perform shift handovers when required

Requirements

• 0-3 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or Information Systems
• Certification in VMware, Avamar, or Data Domain is an added advantage
• Familiarity with system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations
• Ability to monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
• Ability to monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
• Basic understanding of routers, switches, firewalls, MS Cluster, file servers, and print servers
• Good to have ITIL framework understanding
• Ability to produce breach and other operational reports
• Ability to identify process failures and shortcomings and elevate recommendations
• Ability to perform handover procedures for shift work
• Ability to work US business hours, 05:30 PM-2:30 AM India time
• Willingness to work outside these hours as needed
• Ability to work in a global and virtual environment and prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
