Job summary

Roundglass is seeking a Sr. Associate, Compliance to strengthen governance, manage FCRA compliance, donor reporting, and financial controls within the NGO/Foundation.

The role collaborates with CFO and cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory adherence and audit readiness. The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of NGO/FCRA experience, CA or equivalent qualifications, and strong stakeholder communication skills.

Qualifications

• CA preferred and NGO/FCRA experience highly desirable.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in finance/compliance.
• Experience in NGO/Foundation/Section 8 company is preferred.
• Strong understanding of corporate and statutory regulations.
• Hands-on experience in FCRA compliance, grant accounting, and donor reporting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure end-to-end compliance with FCRA and applicable rules.
• Supervise accounting and documentation of foreign contributions (donor, project, location, purpose).
• Develop and implement compliance policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks.
• Monitor utilization of foreign contributions against approved objectives and donor budgets.
• Conduct periodic compliance reviews, risk assessments, and internal audits.
• Maintain records and evidence for regulatory inspections and audits.
• Coordinate with Legal, Finance, HR, Procurement, Operations and external auditors.
• Prepare periodic compliance dashboards and management reports.
• Conduct compliance awareness sessions for employees and ensure policy adherence.
• Establish documentation and record-management practices for audit readiness.
• Manage domestic, FCRA, restricted and unrestricted funds and project-specific funds.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Finance & Compliance professional to strengthen the organization's governance and compliance framework. The role will be responsible for managing the Foundation's finance operations, FCRA compliance, statutory and regulatory reporting, grant accounting, financial controls and audit requirements. The role will ensure that all domestic and foreign contributions are received, accounted for, utilized and reported in accordance with applicable laws, donor requirements and internal policies.

The position will work closely with Finance, Program, Fundraising, Procurement, HR, Legal, auditors, banks and senior management to ensure strong financial governance and compliance. The ideal candidate should have strong working experience of corporate culture, excellent stakeholder reporting skills, and experience working in a multi-functional business environment.

What you'll do:

• Ensure end-to-end compliance with the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) and applicable rules, notifications and regulatory requirements.
• Supervise proper accounting and documentation of foreign contributions, including donor-wise, project-wise, location-wise and purpose-wise tracking.
• Develop and review to implement compliance policies, SOPs, controls and governance frameworks for Foundation.
• Monitor utilization of foreign contributions against approved objectives and donor/project budgets. Ensure that foreign contribution is not utilized for prohibited or non-permissible purposes.
• Conduct periodic compliance reviews, risk assessments and internal audits to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain complete records, supporting documents, donor correspondence and utilization evidence for regulatory inspection.
• Partner with Legal, Finance, HR, Procurement, Operations and other teams to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and internal policies.
• Coordinate with external consultants, auditors, and government authorities, wherever required. Coordinate FCRA audits, regulatory reviews and responses to observations/notices.
• Prepare periodic compliance dashboards and management reports, highlighting risks, pending actions and key developments.
• Conduct compliance awareness sessions and ensure employees understand relevant organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
• Establish strong documentation and record-management practices to ensure audit readiness.
• Maintain separate and appropriate accounting/tracking for:
• Domestic funds
• FCRA funds
• Restricted grants
• Unrestricted funds
• Project/program-specific funds
• Review grant budgets versus actual expenditure and identify variances. Prepare donor financial reports and utilization statements.
• Coordinate with Program/Fundraising teams before financial commitments are made to donors.

Skills & Qualifications:

• CA preferred.
• CA Inter / CMA / MBA Finance / M.Com with strong NGO/FCRA experience may also be considered for Manager level.
• Strong working knowledge of FCRA and NGO financial compliance is essential.
• Approximately 5-10 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience with an NGO/Foundation/Section 8 company is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of applicable corporate and statutory regulations.
• Hands-on experience in FCRA compliance is mandatory. Grant accounting and donor reporting. Internal controls and SOP development.
• High integrity, resilience, and cultural sensitivity.
