Job summary

Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) in Bengaluru (E-city) is seeking a CNC Operator on a contractual basis. The role requires hands-on operation and basic programming of CNC 5-axis machines to produce precision parts.

The ideal candidate holds ITI or Diploma in Mechanical engineering, with experience in G-code/M-code, reading drawings, and maintaining tooling and coolant. You will join a fast-moving shop floor team and work in shifts according to production needs.

Qualifications

• Operating CNC 5-axis machines with attention to precision and tolerances.
• Ability to write/modify G-code or M-code for CNC systems.
• Interpret technical drawings and ensure correct dimensions and geometry.
• Set up tooling, adjust coolant, and maintain machine readiness.
• Meet production deadlines while maintaining quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC 5axis machines and perform basic programming in machine control.
• Write and modify G-code or M-code for CNC machines.
• Interpret technical drawings including dimensions and tolerances.
• Ensure machine runs correctly; perform deburring, grinding as needed.
• Set up collets, tool inserts/blocks/holders; monitor coolant levels.
• Run machines independently in shifts and troubleshoot minor issues.
• Maintain safety and quality; meet production targets.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Operating and programming of CNC 5axis machine.
2. Able to do program in machine control (Siemens / Fanuc / Haas).
3. Making necessary adjustments to ensure the machine operates correctly and efficiently.
4. Understanding and writing G-code or M-code for various CNC machines is crucial.
5. Ability to interpret technical drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
6. A strong foundation in mathematics and geometry is essential for understanding dimensions, angles, and calculations related to machining.
7. Need to manage their time effectively to meet deadlines and ensure efficient production.
8. Needed constant involvement, willingness to learn and adapt new technologies.
9. Observe the machine during operation to ensure it is running smoothly and making parts according to specifications.
10. Understanding the specifications and tolerances required for the finished part.
11. Perform deburring, sanding, grinding, or similar operations.
12. Change collets, tool inserts, tool blocks and tool holders.
13. Maintain proper coolant levels.
14. Able to run machine independently in shift.
15. Troublesooted and resolved minor mechanical issues, minimizing downtime.
