Cloud Engineering within Group Digital provides build and run capabilities for enterprise cloud platforms. This includes platform automation, DevOps tooling, CI/CD enablement, security baseline implementation, and operational support across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.

The Cloud Platform Operations capability provides the operational management of enterprise cloud platforms, ensuring consistent execution of platform administration, service requests, access management, and day-to-day operational activities across the Firm's cloud estate.

The team delivers operational services that enable secure, compliant, and efficient consumption of cloud platforms while supporting engineering teams, business stakeholders, and managed service providers.

Service Line Information

Cloud Engineering services the broader Firm through delivery of core technology and managed services capabilities, collaboration and innovation development services, and development of strategic technology partnerships.

The Cloud Platform Operations capability is responsible for the operational administration of Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud platforms. This includes execution of standard operational requests, cloud account lifecycle management, identity and access administration, platform governance activities, and operational support to ensure cloud services remain secure, compliant, and available.

Job Description

The Team

The role sits within the Cloud Platform Operations team in Group Digital and is responsible for delivering operational services across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The team manages the day-to-day operational administration of enterprise cloud platforms, including cloud account provisioning, access management, platform configuration, identity administration, licensing, billing administration, and operational support.

Operating within a multi-supplier delivery model, the team collaborates closely with Cloud Engineering, Security, Architecture, Service Management, Identity teams, vendors, and managed service providers to deliver consistent and efficient cloud operations while maintaining compliance with enterprise governance and security standards.

The Role

The Cloud Platform Operations Specialist is responsible for the execution of operational activities supporting Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) platforms.

The role performs cloud platform administration, fulfils operational service requests, manages cloud account lifecycle activities, administers platform access and permissions, and supports day-to-day platform operations.

Working within established operational procedures and governance frameworks, the individual ensures cloud services are administered accurately, securely, and consistently while providing operational support to internal stakeholders and contributing to continuous service improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute operational service requests across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) in accordance with established operational procedures and service levels.
• Provision, modify and decommission Azure tenants, subscriptions, AWS accounts, and associated cloud resources.
• Administer identity, access, and permission management activities across supported cloud platforms, including role assignments and delegated administration.
• Manage Azure Enterprise Applications, Service Principals, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and AWS Single Sign-On (SSO) operational activities.
• Support cloud account lifecycle management, including onboarding, changes, transfers, and decommissioning.
• Administer cloud platform licensing, marketplace purchases, billing permissions, and operational configuration activities.
• Execute platform governance activities to ensure compliance with security policies, operational standards, and audit requirements.
• Investigate and resolve operational platform issues, escalating complex technical problems to Cloud Engineering or vendor support where appropriate.
• Maintain operational documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge articles to support consistent service delivery.
• Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Security, Identity, Service Management, and Architecture teams to support operational delivery and platform improvements.
• Participate in Incident, Problem, Request and Change Management processes to maintain platform stability and service quality.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance service efficiency through standardisation and automation.
• Ensure operational activities are completed in accordance with agreed service levels, governance controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Support audit, compliance, and reporting activities related to cloud platform operations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Cloud Platform Operations and Cloud Engineering.

The Person

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 7-9 years of experience in cloud platform administration, infrastructure operations, or enterprise IT support.
• Experience administering Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) enterprise environments.
• Experience managing cloud account lifecycle activities, including provisioning, modification, and decommissioning.
• Experience administering identity and access management, role-based access control (RBAC), and delegated permissions.
• Experience supporting Azure Enterprise Applications, Service Principals, Azure PIM, AWS IAM Identity Center (SSO), or equivalent identity management technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud governance, operational controls, security policies, and audit requirements.
• Experience working within IT Service Management (ITSM) environments supporting Incident, Request, Problem, and Change Management processes.
• Experience using enterprise ticketing platforms such as ServiceNow or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate operational platform issues.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple operational requests while maintaining service quality.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
• Experience working within outsourced or multi-supplier delivery environments is desirable.
