Job summary

FinOps Weekly is seeking an Associate Cloud FinOps Engineer to manage cloud financial operations across AWS, Azure, and GCP. You will help improve cost visibility, automate governance, and support finance and engineering teams.

You will build dashboards, detect spend anomalies, and implement tagging standards, budget monitoring, and right-sizing initiatives in a hands-on technical role based in Hyderabad.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in Cloud FinOps or cloud cost optimization.
• Hands-on knowledge of cloud billing mechanics and cost tools across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Strong Python scripting skills (Pandas, Boto3, Requests) and automation experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Run and reconcile the monthly cloud billing and cost allocation across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Build and maintain dashboards and reports for engineering and finance using Power BI, QuickSight, or native tools.
• Support chargeback and showback processes to allocate cloud costs.
• Develop Python and Shell scripts to automate cost governance activities.
• Create automated alerts for daily cost anomalies and budget breaches.
• Detect idle, orphaned, and underutilized resources across all three clouds.
• Identify right-sizing and modernization opportunities based on utilization.
• Track and monitor cloud commitment plans; enforce tagging for cost attribution.

About the Role

The Associate Cloud FinOps Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day management of cloud financial operations across a multi-cloud environment spanning AWS, Azure, and GCP. The role supports monthly billing, cost allocation, and reporting processes while helping improve cost visibility and reduce cloud waste through automation. This position acts as a connection point between Engineering and Finance. It focuses on identifying spend anomalies, maintaining accurate chargeback and showback models, and building Python-based automation to improve cloud cost governance and resource efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Run and reconcile the monthly cloud billing and cost allocation process across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Build and maintain dashboards and reports for engineering and finance stakeholders using Power BI, QuickSight, or native cloud tools.
• Support chargeback and showback processes to allocate cloud costs to the correct business units.
• Develop and maintain Python and Shell scripts, using Boto3, APIs, and AWS Lambda where applicable, to automate cost governance activities.
• Create automated alerts for daily cost anomalies and budget threshold breaches.
• Detect and help clean up idle, orphaned, and underutilized resources across all three cloud platforms.
• Identify right-sizing and modernization opportunities based on cloud utilization analysis.
• Support the evaluation, tracking, and coverage monitoring of cloud commitment plans.
• Maintain and enforce tagging standards to improve cost attribution across environments.

Required Skills

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in Cloud FinOps or Cloud Cost Optimization.
• Practical knowledge of cloud billing mechanics and native cost tools across:
  • AWS: Cost Explorer, CUR, Budgets
  • Azure: Cost Management + Billing
  • GCP: Billing Reports, BigQuery export
• Strong Python scripting skills, including experience with Pandas, Boto3, and Requests.
• Experience with script execution and automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
