The Associate Cloud FinOps Engineer will manage day-to-day cloud financial
operations, monthly billing cycles, and cost allocation models across our multi-cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP). Acting as a bridge between Engineering and Finance, this role is responsible for driving cost visibility, detecting spend anomalies, and building Python-based automation scripts to eliminate cloud waste.
Key Responsibilities
1. Multi-Cloud Billing & Monthly Reporting
- Execute and reconcile the monthly cloud billing and cost allocation process across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Create, maintain, and deliver cost dashboards and reports (using Power BI, QuickSight, or native cloud tools) for engineering and finance stakeholders.
- Establish and monitor chargeback and showback models to assign cloud costs accurately to respective business units.
2. FinOps Automation & Scripting
- Develop and maintain Python and Shell scripts (using Boto3, APIs, or serverless functions like AWS Lambda) to automate cost-governance tasks.
- Build automated alerts for daily cost anomalies or budget threshold breaches.
- Automate the detection and cleanup of idle, orphaned, or underutilized resources across all three clouds.
3. Cost Optimization & Commitment Management
- Identify right-sizing and modernization opportunities through active analysis of cloud utilization metrics.
- Support the evaluation, tracking, and coverage monitoring of commitment plans, including AWS Savings Plans/RIs, Azure Reservations, and GCP Committed Use Discounts (CUDs).
- Govern and enforce metadata tagging taxonomies to ensure high-quality cost
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills:
- - Experience: Minimum of 2 years of dedicated, hands-on experience in Cloud FinOps or Cloud Cost Optimization roles.
- - Multi-Cloud Expertise: Practical knowledge of billing mechanics and native cost tools across AWS (Cost Explorer, CUR, Budgets), Azure (Cost Management + Billing), and GCP (Billing Reports, BigQuery export).
- - Automation & Scripting: Strong proficiency in Python (Pandas, Boto3, Requests) and script execution.
- - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate-level certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, GCP Digital Leader).
