Job summary

Vmart is seeking a Warehouse Operations Supervisor to oversee day-to-day warehouse activities in our Distribution Centre. The role focuses on receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and inventory handling while maintaining productivity, quality, and service levels.

You will ensure proper FIFO/FEFO, optimize space, manage manpower, and coordinate with transport for timely dispatch. Safety, PPE usage, and 5S adherence are essential components of the role.

Qualifications

• Supervise day-to-day warehouse operations per SOP.
• Ensure proper storage, binning, stacking, and material handling.
• Maintain optimum utilization of warehouse space.
• Ensure FIFO/FEFO wherever applicable.
• Monitor material movement to prevent damage, loss, and misplacement.
• Plan and allocate manpower according to daily workload.
• Supervise picking, packing, staging and dispatch activities.
• Monitor productivity against defined standards.
• Coordinate with transportation and stores for dispatch-related issues.
• Ensure safety, PPE usage, and adherence to 5S standards.

• Support cycle counts and physical stock verification.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and report root causes.
• Ensure proper system vs. physical inventory accuracy.
• Monitor damaged, excess, short, and obsolete inventory.
• Allocate manpower based on workload and productivity requirements.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, and discipline.
• Guide and train warehouse associates on SOPs and safety.

Job Purpose

To supervise day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, inventory handling, and housekeeping while maintaining productivity, safety, quality, and service-level standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Warehouse Operations

• Manage day-to-day warehouse activities as per SOP.
• Ensure proper storage, binning, stacking, and material handling.
• Maintain optimum utilization of warehouse space.
• Ensure FIFO/FEFO wherever applicable.
• Monitor material movement and prevent damage, loss, and misplacement.

2. Picking & Packing

• Plan and allocate manpower according to daily workload.
• Supervise picking, sorting, packing, and staging activities.
• Ensure picking accuracy and timely order completion.
• Monitor productivity against defined standards.
• Ensure proper handling of apparel, FMCG, non-apparel, and fragile products.
• Ensure orders are ready as per dispatch plan.
• Coordinate vehicle loading and ensure proper loading sequence.
• Ensure documentation and system transactions are completed accurately.
• Coordinate with transportation and stores for dispatch-related issues.

4. Inventory Control

• Support cycle counts and physical stock verification.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and report root causes.
• Ensure proper system vs. physical inventory accuracy.
• Monitor damaged, excess, short, and obsolete inventory.

5. Manpower Management

• Allocate manpower based on workload and productivity requirements.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, and discipline.
• Guide and train warehouse associates on SOPs and safety.
• Coordinate with outsourced manpower agencies where applicable.

6. MIS & Performance Monitoring

• Monitor daily operational KPIs such as:
  • Picking productivity
  • Picking accuracy
  • Dispatch adherence
  • Inventory accuracy
  • Order completion
  • Manpower productivity
  • Warehouse utilization
  • Damage/shrinkage

7. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with warehouse safety standards and SOPs.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and material-handling equipment.
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards.
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.
