Job summary

VJR Developers in Chennai invites a civil engineer with 2–7 years of experience on similar projects to join our on-site team. You will lead site activities, coordinate with architects and contractors, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

You should be proficient in Civil 3D, CityEngine and CAD, understand codes and specifications, and possess strong leadership, communication, and time-management skills. Willingness to travel for site visits outside hours when required.

Qualifications

• 2–7 years of civil engineering experience on similar projects.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, CityEngine and CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Assess site feasibility and design impact for due diligence, preliminary layout and final engineering design.
• Prepare architectural drawings and schematic designs per project requirements.
• Study drawings, plans and specs related to construction projects.
• Determine budget, schedules and scope; deploy staff accordingly.
• Direct and support engineering personnel and on-site teams.
• Collaborate with construction teams, architects, developers and consultants.
• Ensure deliverables are on time and within budget.
• Incorporate standard civil engineering disciplines in drawings (geotechnical, wind, hydrology).
• Adhere to company practices, standards and procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities

• A minimum of 2 years and a Maximum of 7 Years of experience working as a civil engineer on similar projects.
• Proficiency in civil engineering project management software, such as Civil 3D and CityEngine, as well as CAD.
• In-depth knowledge of civil engineering and construction specifications, standards, and codes.
• Great leadership, project management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Superb mathematical, time-management, and organizational abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Availability to perform construction site visits outside of business hours, when relevant.

Assess the impact and feasibility of site due to diligence, preliminary layout, and the final engineering design.

Prepare architectural drawings and schematic designs based on project requirements.

Study and assess drawings, plans, specifications, and other documents relating to construction projects.

Determine budget, project schedules, and scope of work and deploy appropriate staff.

Direct, lead, and support other engineering and skilled personnel in managing and executing multiple tasks and projects.

Lead and direct on-site construction teams.

Collaborate and interact with construction teams, architects, and outside project developers and consultants.

Manage deliverables on time and within budget.

Initiate and ensure standard civil engineering discipline in drawings and plans including geotechnical, wind, and hydrology analyses.

Adhere to the best practices, standards, and procedures of the company.
