Job summary

Akshaya Patra Foundation invites a Site Engineer (Civil) to oversee execution, supervision, and monitoring of civil construction at project sites. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with 4-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Or Diploma in Civil Engineering with 7-8 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day civil construction activities at project sites.
  • Ensure work execution per approved drawings, specs, BOQs and schedules.
  • Coordinate with PMCs, contractors, architects, consultants and stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation, DPRs and MIS reports.
  • Ensure QA/QC, IS codes compliance and safe practices at sites.
  • Support cost control, change management and timely risk reporting.

About the Organization

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is one of the worlds largest not-for-profit organizations implementing the Government of Indias Mid-Day Meal Programme. With operations spanning across 16+ states and over 78 kitchens, the Foundation serves over 2.35 million mid-day meals and 1 million morning snacks every day to school children. With an ambitious goal of serving 6 million meals per day by 2030, Akshaya Patra is committed to eliminating classroom hunger and promoting education through a scalable, sustainable, and efficient food delivery model.

Role Summary

The Site Engineer (Civil) will be responsible for the execution, supervision, and monitoring of civil construction activities at project sites. The role requires ensuring quality workmanship, adherence to approved drawings and specifications, compliance with safety and quality standards, timely execution of projects, and effective coordination with Project Management Consultants (PMC), contractors, vendors, architects, and internal stakeholders. The incumbent will also be responsible for project documentation, reporting, budget monitoring, and maintaining project data through project management software.

Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Site Supervision
  • Supervise day-to-day civil construction activities at project sites.
  • Ensure work execution as per approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project schedules.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion within defined milestones.
  • Coordinate with PMCs, contractors, architects, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders for seamless project execution.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and proactively resolve technical issues during execution.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
  • Verify reinforcement, shuttering, concreting, masonry, finishing, and other civil works before execution.
  • Ensure compliance with approved quality standards, IS Codes, and construction specifications.
  • Monitor material quality through real-time inspections and ensure only approved makes and materials are used.
  • Ensure proper curing, workmanship, testing, and inspection at every stage of construction.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures and maintain quality documentation.
Project Monitoring & Documentation
  • Maintain Daily Progress Reports (DPRs), site registers, measurement books, and project records.
  • Prepare and submit Daily, Weekly, and Monthly MIS reports as per management requirements.
  • Present project progress updates, delay analysis, risk registers, issue logs, change management reports, and action plans.
  • Ensure all project-related data, documents, and reports are uploaded and maintained in the designated Project Management Software.
Contractor & Resource Management
  • Monitor contractor performance, labour productivity, and resource utilization.
  • Verify contractor bills, measurements, and executed quantities in coordination with the PMC.
  • Ensure proper material handling, storage, and optimum utilization to minimize wastage.
  • Coordinate manpower deployment to meet project timelines.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure strict implementation of site safety practices and statutory compliance.
  • Promote adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards across project sites.
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
Cost & Change Management
  • Support budget monitoring and cost control initiatives.
  • Prepare savings statements, variance reports, and cost analysis as required.
  • Monitor scope changes and ensure effective change management documentation and approvals.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with 4-5 years of relevant experience

OR

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering with 7-8 years of relevant experience.

Experience & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of RCC structures, finishing works, estimation, and site execution.
  • Sound understanding of IS Codes, quality standards, and construction methodologies.
  • Experience in handling PMCs, contractors, consultants, and site manpower.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Office, and project reporting tools.
  • Working knowledge of Project Management Software for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong planning, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within tight timelines.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, and construction sequencing.
  • Timely submission of MIS reports and project documentation.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and manage multiple project sites as per organizational requirements.
