The role involves site execution, coordination with mechanical and piping teams, review of loads and drawings, and ensuring compliance with IS codes and project specifications.

Job description

Civil & Structural Engineering

Design and engineering of light and medium industrial structures.

Prepare and review structural layouts, framing plans, sections and construction details.

Design/coordinate:

• RCC foundations
• Structural steel structures
• Industrial sheds
• Platforms and walkways
• Staircases, ladders and handrails
• Equipment foundations
• Pipe/equipment support structures
• Utility structures
• Mezzanine floors
• Canopies and supporting structures

Carry out structural stability checks and coordinate structural calculations.

Review structural loads, dead loads, live loads, wind loads and equipment loads.

Coordinate foundation and structural requirements with mechanical equipment and piping layouts.

Check reinforcement drawings, structural fabrication drawings and civil construction drawings.

Mechanical & Equipment Support Coordination

Coordinate with mechanical engineering teams for installation of equipment and machinery.

Prepare/coordinate foundations for:

• Pumps
• Compressors
• Chillers
• Tanks
• Heat exchangers
• Utility equipment
• Other industrial machinery

Ensure proper equipment foundation dimensions, anchor bolts, levels and loading requirements.

Coordinate equipment layout, maintenance access, operating clearances and structural requirements.

Review mechanical equipment loads and their impact on civil/structural design.

Drawings & Design Documentation

Prepare/review:

• GA drawings
• Structural drawings
• Foundation drawings
• RCC drawings
• Steel structure drawings
• Fabrication drawings
• Equipment foundation drawings
• Site development drawings
• As-built drawings

Review engineering drawings received from consultants, vendors and contractors.

Ensure drawings are technically correct and coordinated with other disciplines.

Maintain drawing revisions and engineering documentation.

Site Execution & Project Coordination

Supervise and monitor civil and structural work at project sites.

Coordinate with contractors, fabricators, consultants and vendors.

Ensure execution is as per approved drawings, specifications and quality requirements.

Monitor foundation, RCC, structural steel erection and associated works.

Inspect structural fabrication, erection, welding, bolting and alignment activities.

Check levels, dimensions, anchor bolt positions and structural alignment.

Resolve site-related technical issues and provide engineering solutions.

Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of assigned works.

Estimation & Cost Control

Prepare quantity estimates and BOQs for civil and structural works.

Review contractor quotations and technical offers.

Support material planning and procurement requirements.

Verify contractor measurements and work completion.

Monitor material consumption and identify opportunities for cost optimization.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

Ensure civil and structural works comply with approved drawings and specifications.

Coordinate inspection and testing of construction materials.

Ensure proper quality of concrete, reinforcement, structural steel, welding and bolting.

Ensure safe working practices during construction and structural erection.

Coordinate with HSE teams for site safety requirements.

Ensure compliance with applicable IS codes, project specifications and statutory requirements.
