Job summary

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in India is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to perform analysis and design of RCC and steel structures in accordance with IS codes. You will design temporary and industrial structures, review drawings, and coordinate with geotechnical and construction teams to develop optimal solutions.

The role requires a Masters in Structural Engineering, 10–15 years of relevant experience, proficiency in Staad Pro, and a proven track record in detailed steel and RCC design.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of RCC and steel structures in compliance with applicable Indian Standards.
• Design of Steel Structures such as temporary sheds, industrial structures, gantry girders, PEB Structures, etc. with fabrication details. Design of Construction Enabling Works / temporary structures, Lifting Arrangements, Muck Buckets, Equipment Supports, Utility Supports, struts, etc.
• Review and interpret project requirements, drawings, and specifications to develop optimal design solutions.
• Design of Equipment Foundations.
• Prepare and check structural design calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
• Ensure adherence to relevant IS codes, project specifications, and safety standards. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical, hydraulic, and construction teams.
• Review designs submitted by consultants/vendors and provide technical comments.
• Identify and evaluate design risks and propose mitigation measures.
• Support site teams during construction for resolving structural design-related issues.
• Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and project meetings.
• Preparation & maintaining record of Design Documents and other technical submissions complying to the Quality Management System; and seeking approval from Employer/PMC.
• Co-ordinating with the drafting team for preparation of Detail Drawings.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve design-related issues.
• Suggest design changes or improvements to reduce construction time or material costs, within the boundaries of the approved design standards and project scope.
• Timely collaboration with site project team for enabling works.

Preferred candidate profile

• Masters degree in Structural Engineering
• 10-15 years of relevant experience in structural design, preferably in infrastructure, hydropower, or industrial projects.
• Experience in handling complex structural systems and large-scale projects will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals and design concepts.
• Thorough knowledge of Indian Standards (IS Codes) related to RCC and steel design.
• Proven track record of detail design of steel & RCC structures. Candidate must be proficient in Steel Connection Design.
• Candidate must have working knowledge of Staad Pro.
• Ability to critically review engineering designs and identify potential risks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
