About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee and lead the overall operations of our logistics business. The COO will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, service quality, profitability, customer satisfaction, and effective coordination across transportation, warehousing, fleet, manpower, and other logistics functions.
The ideal candidate should have strong leadership skills, extensive experience in logistics and supply-chain operations, and the ability to develop and implement processes that support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Overall Operations Management
- Lead and oversee day-to-day operations of the company across transportation, warehousing, distribution, and logistics functions.
- Ensure smooth, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods.
- Establish operational standards, processes, and performance benchmarks.
- Monitor operational performance and take corrective action wherever required.
- Ensure timely delivery and adherence to customer commitments.
- 2. Transportation & Fleet Management
- Oversee fleet operations, vehicle deployment, route planning, utilization, and maintenance.
- Monitor vehicle productivity, fuel consumption, operating costs, and downtime.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance for vehicles and drivers.
- Develop strategies to improve fleet utilization and reduce transportation costs.
- Coordinate with transporters and third-party logistics partners where applicable.
- 3. Warehouse & Distribution Management
- Supervise warehouse operations, inventory movement, loading/unloading, and dispatch activities.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and movement of customer materials.
- Implement systems to minimize damages, losses, delays, and operational wastage.
- Ensure warehouse capacity is utilized effectively.
- Maintain proper documentation and accountability for all materials handled.
- 4. Financial & Cost Management
- Develop and monitor operational budgets.
- Identify opportunities to reduce operational expenses without compromising service quality.
- Monitor profitability of routes, customers, projects, and business verticals.
- Review operating costs, vendor payments, manpower costs, fuel expenses, and other major cost components.
- Work closely with the Finance team to improve margins and cash-flow efficiency.
- 5. Customer Management
- Ensure high standards of customer service and timely resolution of operational issues.
- Develop strong relationships with key customers and understand their logistics requirements.
- Handle escalations and ensure prompt resolution of customer complaints.
- Monitor customer service levels, delivery performance, and service quality.
- Work with the Business Development team to support customer retention and business growth.
- 6. Team Leadership & Manpower Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage operations teams across locations.
- Define responsibilities, targets, KPIs, and performance standards for operational staff.
- Ensure adequate manpower deployment based on business requirements.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and implement improvement plans where required.
- Promote accountability, discipline, teamwork, and a performance-oriented culture.
- 7. Process Improvement & Technology
- Develop and implement SOPs for all major operational activities.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and introduce process improvements.
- Promote the use of technology, automation, GPS tracking, TMS/WMS, ERP, and other digital tools.
- Establish systems for real-time tracking and operational reporting.
- Use data and performance metrics to improve decision-making.
- 8. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with applicable transportation, labour, safety, tax, and logistics regulations.
- Ensure proper maintenance of statutory and operational documentation.
- Identify operational risks and implement appropriate controls.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and customer-specific requirements.
- Coordinate with relevant internal and external stakeholders during audits, inspections, or compliance matters.
- 9. Business Strategy & Growth
- Work closely with the Managing Director/Directors to develop and execute the company's operational strategy.
- Support expansion into new locations, services, customers, and business verticals.
- Evaluate new logistics opportunities and operational feasibility.
- Develop scalable processes to support business growth.
- Contribute to strategic planning, pricing decisions, capacity planning, and long-term business development.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- MBA/PGDM in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business Management will be an advantage.
- 1015+ years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, warehousing, or related operations.
- Proven experience in a senior leadership or operational management role.
- Strong understanding of transportation, fleet, warehousing, distribution, and supply-chain operations.
- Experience managing large teams and multiple operational locations will be preferred.

Travel Requirement
The role requires frequent travel across India (Pan-India) to oversee and manage operations across various locations.
The candidate should be willing and able to travel extensively for branch/warehouse visits, customer meetings, operational reviews, vendor/transport partner coordination, and business development activities.
Flexibility to travel at short notice, based on business and operational requirements, is expected.
