Job description

We are partnering with a high-growth, profitable Consumer FinTech company operating in the U.S. market to hire a Chief Operating Officer (COO).

This is a high-impact, operations-first leadership mandate, working directly with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to build and scale a technology-led operating engine for the company's next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and scale Core Operations, Banking Operations, Payments, Credit Operations, Compliance Operations, KYC, Fraud & Risk Operations, Process Excellence and Customer Success.
  • Build scalable operating models supporting rapid growth across customers, products, transactions and revenue.
  • Drive automation and build an AI-first operating model across key operational processes.
  • Establish strong operational controls, SLAs, governance, quality standards and performance metrics.
  • Improve productivity, turnaround time, cost-to-serve, operational reliability and customer outcomes.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Finance, Compliance and Risk teams.
  • Manage and develop senior operational leaders across multiple functions.
  • Drive operational readiness for new products, partnerships and customer segments.
  • Contribute to unit economics, commercial outcomes and progressively take on broader business/P&L ownership.

The original mandate specifically emphasizes AI-led automation and technology-enabled operations across payments, credit, KYC, compliance, reconciliations, risk and customer servicing.

Ideal Profile
  • 18+ years of experience with significant senior operational leadership exposure.
  • Strong career foundation in Operations / Business Operations / Banking Operations / Payments / Credit / Risk / Compliance / Process Excellence.
  • Leadership experience in a high-growth FinTech, digital-first bank, technology-led financial services or consumer technology company.
  • Proven experience scaling complex, technology-enabled operations.
  • Strong understanding of automation, AI-led operations, KYC, fraud, risk and operational controls.
  • Experience managing multiple functions and senior leadership teams.
  • Exposure to P&L, unit economics and business ownership would be highly valued.
  • U.S. Consumer FinTech experience would be a strong advantage.
  • Founders/ex-founders and candidates with top-tier consulting backgrounds followed by substantial operating leadership experience are particularly relevant.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished operating leader to join a rapidly scaling business and potentially evolve from functional leadership toward BU/P&L ownership based on impact and business readiness.

We are working on a confidential COO mandate for a rapidly scaling, technology-led financial services platform with a significant international consumer business.

We are looking for a senior leader who has built and scaled complex operating functions, ideally within FinTech, digital banking, consumer lending, payments or another high-growth technology business.

The Mandate

The COO will work closely with the Founder/CEO and leadership team and take ownership of the company's end-to-end operating ecosystem.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Build and scale business-critical operations for the company's next growth phase.
  • Lead multiple operational verticals spanning financial transactions, credit servicing, customer onboarding, risk controls, regulatory processes and customer operations.
  • Create a highly technology-enabled and automation-driven operating environment.
  • Strengthen process governance, operating controls, service quality and execution discipline.
  • Improve efficiency, customer experience, turnaround time and cost of operations.
  • Work closely with Product, Technology, Data, Finance and Risk leadership.
  • Build and mentor a strong second line of senior operating leaders.
  • Support the launch and operationalization of new products and strategic partnerships.
  • Play an increasingly broader role across business performance, economics and P&L.

The underlying mandate is broader than conventional customer-service leadership; the original role specifically requires substantial depth in core, regulated and technology-enabled operations.

Who Could Be a Strong Fit?

We would particularly like to speak with leaders who bring:

  • Around 18+ years of overall experience with significant leadership responsibility.
  • Strong grounding in FinTech / Digital Financial Services / Consumer Internet / Technology-led Banking.
  • Experience managing large and complex operating environments.
  • Exposure to areas such as payments, lending/credit, financial operations, controls, risk, compliance or operational transformation.
  • Strong orientation toward AI, automation, data and process digitization.
  • Experience leading senior managers and multiple functional teams.
  • Understanding of business economics and preferably some exposure to P&L/BU ownership.
  • Experience supporting U.S. or other international consumer markets would be advantageous.
  • Entrepreneurial experience or a strong strategy-consulting foundation followed by meaningful operating roles can also be relevant.
Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is not a traditional COO role focused purely on administration or customer support. It is a scale-building leadership opportunity with significant influence across operations, technology, customer outcomes and business performance.

The role also has the potential to evolve into broader business-unit leadership and P&L responsibility as the organization scales. This progression is an explicit element of the underlying mandate.

Key Criteria
  • Former Founder / Co-Founder / Business Unit Head
  • Experience with McKinsey, Bain, BCG or similar consulting firms
  • Strong P&L, revenue and business ownership
  • Experience in FinTech / Financial Services
  • Exposure to fundraising and investor management
