Job summary

Alstom in India invites applications for the full-time Chief Maintenance Engineer in Bhopal. You will lead depot activities, fleet management and maintenance, driving project execution and ensuring QCDP, EHS compliance, and stakeholder satisfaction.

You will collaborate across engineering, quality, sourcing, HR and external partners to optimize performance. You will lead troubleshooting, drive continuous improvement, coach teams and align with RAMS, safety standards, and standard processes while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Technology (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics); MBA in operations research/project management is a plus
• 8-10 years of project management experience in the railway industry, with at least 5 years managing medium-critical projects
• Strong technical knowledge of locomotives, EMUs, metros, and related systems (TCMS, propulsion)
• Experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and warranty operations in the railway environment
• Understanding of RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) and EHS standards
• Proficiency in reading schematics and diagrams to troubleshoot complex systems
• Strong leadership, team management, and coaching skills
• Excellent communication, report writing, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, SAP, and planning tools
• Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and a continuous improvement mindset

Responsibilities

• Driving the execution of projects to meet contractual requirements and customer expectations
• Ensuring project QCDP (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Performance) and EHS compliance
• Managing overall project P&L and optimizing financial performance
• Leading and coordinating depot activities, including fleet management and maintenance
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Providing technical support for troubleshooting, validation, certification, and warranty operations
• Ensuring compliance with EHS rules, quality policies, and standard processes
• Promoting continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team

You'll play a pivotal role in driving project execution, ensuring contractual requirements and customer expectations are met while maximizing results. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across functions such as engineering, quality, EHS, sourcing, and HR, as well as external stakeholders like customers and suppliers, to oversee depot activities, fleet management, and maintenance operations.

You'll specifically take care of leading troubleshooting efforts and ensuring fleet performance targets are achieved, but also driving continuous improvement initiatives and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
