Job summary

Alstom in Bhopal seeks a Chief Maintenance Engineer to lead depot operations, fleet management, and maintenance across railway assets with a focus on meeting contractual requirements and driving performance.

You will coordinate with engineering, quality, EHS, sourcing, HR, customers, and suppliers; oversee troubleshooting, validation, and warranty operations; and champion RAMS and safety standards while coaching teams for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of project management experience in the railway industry with at least 5 years on medium-critical projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Technology (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics); MBA in operations research/project management is a plus.
• Strong technical knowledge of locomotives, EMUs, metros, and related systems (TCMS, propulsion).

Responsibilities

• Drive the execution of projects to meet contractual requirements and customer expectations.
• Ensure project QCDP (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Performance) and EHS compliance.
• Manage overall project P&L and optimize financial performance.
• Lead depot activities, including fleet management and maintenance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting, validation, certification, and warranty operations.
• Ensure compliance with EHS rules, quality policies, and standard processes.
• Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Coach and develop team members while fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.

Your future role

Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across functions such as engineering, quality, EHS, sourcing, and HR, as well as external stakeholders like customers and suppliers, to oversee depot activities, fleet management, and maintenance operations. You’ll specifically take care of leading troubleshooting efforts and ensuring fleet performance targets are achieved, but also driving continuous improvement initiatives and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

• Proficiency in MS Office, SAP, and planning tools (e.g., MS Project)
• Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and a continuous improvement mindset
