Job summary

Max Healthcare seeks a senior engineering professional to base in Bhubaneswar, overseeing hospital facilities and maintenance for a 250-bed NABH‑credited facility. The role involves managing HVAC, electrical, water and gas systems, plus leading construction and expansion projects.

You will coordinate with architects and contractors, develop SOPs, and drive safety, energy efficiency and disaster-preparedness across wards, OT, and support services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
• Over 15 years of qualified experience in hospital and hospitality projects with extensive knowledge of managing medical systems.

Responsibilities

• Ensure continuous operation of critical systems (HVAC, electrical, DG sets, UPS, medical gas pipeline systems).
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Monitor building management systems (BMS) and energy systems.
• Maintain operation theatres, ICUs, clean rooms, and isolation wards per healthcare standards.
• Ensure proper functioning of medical gas systems (oxygen, vacuum, compressed air).
• Oversee water systems including RO plants, STP and wastewater treatment.
• Ensure NABH and JCI, fire safety compliance and local regulations.
• Conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
• Lead hospital construction, renovation and expansion projects.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants and contractors.
• Lead and train engineering staff; develop SOPs.
• Manage AMC/CMC contracts and vendor SLAs.
• Control maintenance budgets and procurement; drive energy-saving initiatives.
• Monitor utility consumption and optimize costs.
• Develop disaster management plans and conduct mock drills.
• Maintain redundancy for critical systems.

This role will be based in Bhubaneswar at Kalinga Max Healthcare. Max Healthcare has acquired a stake in Kalinga Hospital. This is a 250 bed NABH‑Credited facility built on a 10acre land parcel.

• Ensure continuous operation of all critical systems (HVAC, electrical, DG sets, UPS, medical gas pipeline systems).
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Monitor building management systems (BMS) and energy systems.
• Maintain operation theatres (OT), ICUs, clean rooms, and isolation wards in accordance with healthcare standards.
• Ensure proper functioning of medical gas systems (oxygen, vacuum, compressed air).
• Oversee water systems including RO plants, STP, and wastewater treatment.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare standards such as NABH & JCI, fire safety regulations, and local statutory requirements.
• Conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
• Ensure infection control measures in engineering operations.
• Lead hospital construction, renovation, and expansion projects.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and as per healthcare specifications.
• Manage engineering team, including technicians, supervisors, and contractors.
• Conduct training programs for staff on safety and system operations.
• Develop SOPs for all engineering functions.
• Manage AMC/CMC contracts for equipment and systems.
• Evaluate vendor performance and ensure SLA compliance.
• Control maintenance budgets and procurement.
• Implement energy‑saving initiatives.

• Optimize operational costs without compromising patient care.
• Ensure readiness for emergencies such as power failure, fire, and equipment breakdown.

Years of Experience

Over 15 years of qualified experience in hospital and hospitality projects, with extensive knowledge in managing and operating diverse medical systems. Local language preferred (Odia).
