Job summary

Jehangir Hospital is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the facilities team, plan and supervise the upkeep of buildings, utilities and grounds, and ensure uninterrupted patient care.

In this role you will manage budgets, supervise technicians and engineers, enforce safety standards, coordinate with departments, implement preventive maintenance, and pursue energy efficiency initiatives to lower costs.

Job Description
  • 1. Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules for the hospital's infrastructure, including buildings, utilities and grounds.
  • 2. Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance, repair and servicing of medical equipment, machinery and other hospital assets. This includes ensuring that all equipment is in proper working condition.
  • 3. Budget Management: Manage the maintenance budget, including cost control and cost-effective procurement of maintenance supplies and services. Prepare and justify annual maintenance budgets.
  • 4. Staff Supervision: Direct and lead a team of maintenance personnel, including technicians, electricians, plumbers and other skilled workers. Provide guidance, training and support to maintenance staff.
  • 5. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the hospital's physical infrastructure and equipment comply with relevant safety and health regulations, building codes and industry standards.
  • 6. Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to proactively identify and address potential issues before they become critical problems.
  • 7. Emergency Repairs: Coordinate emergency repairs and respond to urgent maintenance needs to minimize disruptions to hospital operations.
  • 8. Vendor and Contractor Management: Liaise with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair services. Negotiate contracts, ensure work is completed as per agreements and manage vendor relationships.
  • 9. Environmental Safety: Monitor and maintain compliance with environmental safety standards, including waste disposal, hazardous materials handling and safety protocols.
  • 10. Energy Efficiency: Implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce operational costs and the hospital's environmental footprint. This may involve managing energy-efficient systems and technologies.
  • 11. Record-Keeping: Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repairs and equipment inventory. Generate reports and document the status of maintenance projects.
  • 12. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks to hospital operations related to maintenance issues and take measures to mitigate these risks.
  • 13. Collaboration: Collaborate with other hospital departments and leadership to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruptions to patient care.
