Role & responsibilities

Role & Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day finance and accounting operations of the real estate business, including project-wise accounting and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, MIS reports, and management dashboards.
• Maintain project-wise profitability, cost tracking, revenue recognition, and budget vs. actual analysis.
• Monitor project expenses, construction costs, vendor payments, customer collections, and outstanding receivables.
• Prepare and monitor cash flow projections and working capital requirements for ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Ensure timely accounting and reconciliation of customer advances, receivables, payables, bank accounts, and inter-company transactions.
• Handle GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other statutory compliances, including coordination with consultants and authorities wherever required.
• Support preparation and filing of GST returns, TDS returns, tax assessments, and other regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with auditors for statutory audit, tax audit, internal audit, and project-related audits.
• Ensure proper accounting treatment and documentation for land acquisition, development costs, construction expenses, project inventory, and fixed assets.
• Review agreements, invoices, payment terms, and financial implications of major commercial transactions.
• Work closely with the Projects, Sales, Legal, Procurement, and Management teams to ensure financial controls and accurate reporting.
• Develop and strengthen internal financial controls, approval processes, and accounting SOPs.
• Monitor budgets and identify cost overruns, leakages, financial risks, and opportunities for cost optimization.
• Provide management with financial analysis and insights for project feasibility, investment decisions, pricing, profitability, and cash-flow planning.
• Support due diligence and financial analysis for new projects, land acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements relevant to the real estate sector.
• Manage and mentor the finance/accounts team and ensure timely closure of books and reporting.
• Perform any other finance, accounting, taxation, or strategic financial responsibilities assigned by management.

Preferred candidate profile

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with approximately 4 years of post-qualification experience.
• Candidates with experience in the real estate, infrastructure, construction, property development, or related sectors will be preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience in project accounting, financial reporting, MIS, budgeting, cash-flow management, and cost control.
• Good knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax, statutory compliance, and audit processes.
• Experience in preparing and analysing project-wise P&L, balance sheets, cash-flow statements, budgets, and variance reports.
• Strong understanding of accounting treatment related to real estate projects, construction costs, land transactions, customer advances, and project inventory.
• Experience in handling statutory audit, tax audit, internal audit, and coordination with external consultants/auditors.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights to management.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting/ERP software; experience with real estate accounting systems will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of financial controls, processes, reconciliations, and accounting SOPs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with management, auditors, bankers, vendors, customers, legal teams, and internal departments.
• Should be commercially oriented, detail-focused, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced business environment.
• Candidates who have handled multiple projects/entities or a growing real estate business will be preferred.
